Being single on any holiday's can be rough, being single for some on christmas especially can be pretty difficult because you see all the engagement posts from your friends, and of course all the Pandora rings and bracelets boyfriends get for their girlfriends and other things that... well you get the picture. While yes it may be a bit hard, there are some plus sides to being single. Here are a few perks I believe are well worth the read.

1. One less person to shop for.

Let's be honest, this is one of the best reasons. Why? Saving a good $100-$200 and putting it either towards a gift for your best friend or your dog. And who doesn't love shopping for their dog?

2. You can bum it all year long.

You can basically live in holiday pj's. You have no one (besides family) to impress (granite dressing up is fun but LOADS of work), so throw your hair back into a messy bun, get some adorable pj's, your blanket, and some hot chocolate and turn on the 25 days of christmas!

3. Buying your dog all the presents

Dogs are SO much more fun to shop for... I mean honestly! They won't return your gift, they won't bitch about it, and they'll be so happy if it's like wrapping paper because they'll tear it up, and I mean... Have you ever witnessed the joy a dog has when tearing open a present? It's the cutest thing in the freaking world.

4. Making Memories with friends

Without a boyfriend/girlfriend, you have more time to make memories with your best friends! Like go on tacky light tour, or take a photo in front of a huge christmas tree. Also best friends make the best dates to any function. Let's be honest.

5. You don't have to worry about heartbreak on Christmas

Last Christmas, I discovered what it felt like to be heartbroken at christmastime. Let me tell you, IT SUCKS. My ex broke up with me right before my birthday and christmas. Need to say it was the worst birthday/christmas ever. But this year, I'm single and happy and healthy. No idiotic boys playing with my emotions, just me myself and I (and my best friends of course).

6. You can eat as much as you want and not feel any shame

Lets face it, anytime we get a boy/girlfriend we always want to make it out to seem like we aren't secretly in love with all the food, being single means you can have as many plates as you want and not feel like you're being extra because it's the holidays.

7. You don't have to meet the family and get approval

Meeting the parents for the first time can be so hard and very awkward because you're constantly worrying about "Am I good enough?" "Is this outfit okay?" etc.. Being single means you don't have to worry about any of that stuff. Do you boo.

I'm not bashing people that have boyfriends it's my outtake, but as a single woman it is nice to have your friends around you, so grab some cookie dough and enjoy! You deserve it girl/boy!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
