7 Reasons Why Applying To Jobs Sucks
Damian Zhaleski

If you're anything like me, a 20-something-year-old, you know that looking for jobs is the absolute worst. Especially during this time of year when everyone and their mother is applying for summer jobs, the pressure is definitely on. If you have ever applied for a job or had a job, hopefully, you can relate to why applying for jobs actually sucks.

1. The nerves.

Ugh, the nerves are real when you're applying to jobs. You're practically nervous about everything, the interview, that they won't like you, maybe the fact that they'll find someone better. But these nerves are normal, and unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it.

2. All of the pre-work.

Filling out all of the paperwork, applications upon applications, revising your resume and cover letter is what I consider the pre-work for applying to jobs. You fill out all of this paperwork and then the employer asks you direct questions about your resume that you already sent them. You do all of this for a 20- or 30-minute interview, and yes, it gets tedious.

3. The interview.

So let's get something straight, you fill out these applications, resumes, cover letters, and all of the other prerequisites that these positions force down your throat, all for a 20-minute interview? Yeah, no thanks.

4. The dress code.

Figuring out what to wear is also one of the most annoying things about applying for jobs. You don't want to look too casual, or too dressed up, and so you're just not sure what the happy medium is. Yeah, good luck with that.

5. Waiting to hear back.

If the employer is nice, they'll let you know either way, whether you got the job or not. But if they're not so nice, they might leave you hanging. Waiting is just part of the game, but I feel you, it does suck.

6. Finding out that someone more qualified got the job.

There will be more qualified people than you, and that's just life. Getting rejected sucks in all aspects, though, and unfortunately, employers just don't care.

7. Starting the process all over again.

Yup, I'm sorry to break it to you, but you'll probably have to repeat the process all over again in order to make you seem desperate enough for someone to hire you. The more you try, though, the more you increase your chances, so keep scrollin'.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
