Whether you’re a morning person or not, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s easy to opt for a protein bar or skip breakfast entirely when we’re in a rush. However, with these simple recipe ideas, you don’t have to miss out on a delicious morning meal. Prepare the ingredients the night before, and you’ll be off to a great start to the day when you try these great breakfasts.
1. Avocado Toast
This is one of my favorite breakfasts because it doesn’t take long to prepare and you can top it off with whatever toppings you choose. Simply mash a sliced, peeled avocado and add seasonings like salt or lemon juice. Spread your mix onto two toasted pieces of bread (or bagel) and enjoy!
2. Yogurt Parfait
With this recipe, you can either go simple or fancy, depending on if you’re going to Instagram a picture later. If you’re short on time, gather your favorite yogurt with granola, berries, coconut or any other topics of your choice. It tastes like a desert but gives you the protein to kick-start a great day.
3. Banana + Almond Butter
When you’re in a rush but looking for protein, almond butter is your friend. Next time you’re grocery shopping, pick up a few snack-size almond butter packs and a bunch of bananas. Put them together for instant breakfast of champions.
4. Cinnamon Toast
If you have a little more time in the morning and prefer carbs over produce, this breakfast is for you. Start by topping one (or more) slices of bread with a few slices of butter and a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Put it in a toaster oven until crispy and enjoy!
5. Smoothie
Sometimes, you’re running so late, you just have to take breakfast on the road. Instead of a basic granola bar, opt for a smoothie you make the night before. You can add yogurt or protein powder for an added morning boost to your delicious breakfast to-go.
6. Peanut Butter Bagel
A carbo-load and protein is the athlete’s ideal breakfast. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but you are free to top off your yummy bagel with anything—perhaps bananas, apple slices, or a drizzle of honey. This recipe is both substantial and nutritious for everyone.
7. Cereal Trail Mix
This is one of my favorite breakfasts because you can prepare it days in advance and try out new variations each time. Simply gather your favorite cereals, granola, dried fruit or nuts and mix them together for a yummy, quick breakfast.
Don’t sacrifice a healthy breakfast because you lack time in the mornings. With these seven awesome recipes, you can start your day off to a positive start and thank yourself later.
