I honestly don't think there's a bad dessert on their menu.

This Chicago-born chain has been around since 1963 and has grown to now have 53 locations mainly within Illinois. Their menu has soooo many options that I could stand there for five minutes and still be unsure what I want. But among their many amazing menu items, there are a few things that are definitely at the top of my list of faves.

1. Chocolate Cake Shake

I remember the first time I had one of these, I was honestly shook because it's one of the creations on the planet. Who doesn't like cake and shakes?

2. Hotdog

Hotdogs aren't something I eat all the time but a Chicago-style hot dog from Portillo's is definitely my go-to whenever I'm ordering.

3. Lemon Cake

This is back in restaurants right now by popular demand and I am so glad. It's definitely underrated; everyone usually goes for the chocolate cake.

4. Cheese Fries

Portillo's has super yummy crinkle cut fries and they only get better with a side of cheese!

5. Chocolate Eclair Cake

My roommate showed me this cake last year and it's quickly become one of my fave desserts. The only problem is they never have any when I go in so I feel very lucky when I can finally get a slice.

6. Italian Beef

Italian beefs are a must-have whenever I go back home and surprisingly, Portillo's a big chain, is still able to compete with some of the smaller scale restaurants around Chicagoland.

7. Chopped Salad

Something I've been loving recently is the chopped salads from Portillo's. They have so many tasty ingredients and they give the illusion of making a healthier choice.

Sometimes I think Portillo's is a little overrated but I'm always down to grab something from their menu. As long as I don't have to sit in their long drive thru forever and I get my chocolate eclair cake, I'll be happy!!

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.
