As we head into the new year, it’s time to make resolutions for a new year. The new year is here and it will wait for no one. So if you haven’t already made your own New Year’s resolutions, or need some inspiration, here’s a few resolutions that I’ve been making over the years that I have plans of actually doing this year.

1. Losing Weight

Almost every year I tell myself I will lose those few extra pounds I have and look more fit. Spoiler alert: it never happens. Or at least, it hasn’t happened yet. I still have hope.

2. Getting Healthy

This one really ties into that losing weight one up at number one. I always want to get healthier, but it always takes a back burner to everything else, unfortunately. But this year, I think I might actually do it. I have high hopes anyway, especially since getting the blender I wanted for Christmas.

3. Procrastinate Less

This is one bad habit I’m already in the process of kicking. Scheduling makes everything better!

4. Clean That Spare Room

You could replace spare room with any room or desk and chances are, you need to organize it somehow. My personal one is a desk right now; it’s a mess like you wouldn’t believe.

5. Hang Those Pictures

I think we’ve all got a stash of pictures somewhere that we mean to hang up somewhere. I personally have hundreds that still need to be hung or put into my scrapbook. Not to mention that I want to take even more that I’ll need to print and hang up somewhere.

6. Spend Time on My Hobby

My personal hobby is Crochet, but really, I think most of us could stand to use a bit more time relaxing with something relatively productive in the way hobbies tend to be.

7. Read My Bible More

I know a lot of people who have room for improvement when it comes to spiritual areas of their life. My starting point of improvement is reading my bible more.

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.
