It seems as if each New Year brings a list of resolutions we struggle to fulfill and gradually forget about until next year. Here's a list of resolutions you can live by.
1. Find what you love and do it
At the beginning of my Sophomore year of college I heard the quote, " Find what you love and let it kill you." Although I am still searching for my passion, I cannot wait to find it. Remember, do what you love and love what you do.
2. Love with your whole heart
Love can be a scary thing. You place a lot of your trust in another person hoping and believing that they won't hurt you. The fear of heartbreak can hold back individual's from wonderful love. Open your heart and love someone more than you want to. Love doesn't make sense so don't think simply do.
3. Stay true to yourself
Oftentimes we are our biggest critic when we should be our biggest supporter. No one can nor should they try to love you more than you love yourself. You are exactly who you're supposed to be - imperfections and all. I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be this perfect person who has the highest G.P.A., a great group of friends, and a successful career ahead of them. However, there is no such thing as a perfect person! Be yourself and do what you want because it is for you.
4. Be kind
You never know what someone else is dealing with. Treat people how you would like to be treated and be kind.
5. Take chances
Life is too short to let something stop you. Go out, explore, meet new people, try new things, and live.
6. Get organized
A clean and orderly work environment leads to a clean and orderly mind. Organization leads to less stress, more productivity, and oftentimes a positive lifestyle.
7. Recycle more
For all of those who don't believe in climate change, I wish you were right. Let's just say you're right. This does not change the need to recycle. Recycling not only is environmentally friendly, it is cost efficient and a good thing to do. If we would like to continue to live on planet Earth we need to spend more time taking care of it.
8. Exercise
You don't need to go to the gym every other day or invest in expensive equipment to maintain a healthy exercise regime. Exercise is such an underrated health provision. Regular exercise improves short-term memory, physical ability, and overall wellbeing. Studies show that individuals who do not exercise periodically in their twenties lose a significant amount of mental capacity as their brain does not receive enough oxygen causing brain cells to die early. A little exercise each day makes an impact on a lifetime of health.
