7 Bingeworthy Netflix Shows For Summer
The Odyssey

Summer is the season of leisure and doing whatever the hell you want. It is fully acceptable to wake up at noon, drag yourself to the couch, and not move until there are no longer signs of sunlight. Your parents will still probably judge you, but who has time to care when you are eleven episodes deep. When half of summer is lent to summer showers what’s a girl to do? The answer is always Netflix. However, it is easy to get sucked into the black hole of Netflix when you don’t know what you are looking for. Here are a few of my favorites if you are looking to sink your teeth into some really good shows, both new and old, this summer. Let the bingeing begin!

1. Girl Boss

I finished the first, and sadly only, season of Girl Boss within two days; which is showing major self-control. This show is literally about a girl boss who reinvents her life through her "f*ck the world" attitude. She goes from dumpster diving for bagels to creating her own online business, all while getting us attached to the people contributing to her journey. This is a

must see. Also, feel free to check out the real fashion website NastyGal, you will not be disappointed.

2. 13 Reasons Why

By now everyone has heard of this Selena Gomez produced and highly controversial new show. It shines a light on the tragedy and aftermath of suicide and is not for light watching. With it being picked up for the second season, I guess it is time to see what all the hype is about.

3. Riverdale

With Cole emerging as a new gloomy, hipster named Jughead, if you ever wondered what happened to the Sprouse twins this show solves half of that mystery. There is also Archie, the boy who defies the oxymoron ‘hot ginger’. This show elevates juicy high school drama, like a student teacher affair *gasp*, with an unsolved murder. It’s a more realistic and less annoying version of PLL.

4. Prison Break

With this shows revival, now is the perfect time to watch it from the very beginning. Is there anything better than a pair of hot brothers who would do anything for each other? If you like seeing into the devious minds of criminals and their intricate plans, with plot twists you never see coming, then this show is for you. #TeamLinc

5. The League

Although there are seven seasons, each season only has 13 episodes. That is not enough time to make fun of Andre’s wardrobe, Ruxin’s entire life being forever unclean, Taco being Taco, and so much more. This show hilariously follows a group of friends whose main connection is fantasy football. I personally pledge to name my first-born Shivakamini Somakandarkram if they bring this show back.

6. Grace and Frankie

Shout out to my Nana because she was the one that told me about this show. It combines the hilarious minds of Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda and tells the story of how their husbands fell in love…. with each other. The show illustrates both families trying to cope with the new couple through funny and heart wrenching ways.

7. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

With one of its creators being the one that brought us Mean Girls (All Hail Tina Fey) it automatically has our attention. This show has the hysterical Ellie Kemper trying to live a normal life in New York City after being saved from 15 years of captivity from a cult. It’s like a modern Tom Hanks in Big with a lot of pop culture references and different celebrity faces. If anything watch for Titus' rendition of Beyoncé's Lemonade, you're welcome.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
