Music is something that has a special place in the hearts of many people. Music festivals are collections of music and people who enjoy it just as much as you do. If you live in the central US and you're a music lover, here a few festivals you might want to check out. Some festivals aren't for everyone, but the music (as well as other stuff) is good at all of these. Whether you're a country fan, a hardcore rocker or just enjoy live music, you'll find something on this list you'll want to attend.

1. Lollapalooza.

Lollapalooza is a four-day outdoor concert that takes place in Grant Park Chicago. There are eight different stages including one for kids. This festival pulls major names; this year acts include Lana Del Rey, Radiohead, Future, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Halsey.

2. Country Jam.

OK, obviously not everyone is into country music, so if you aren't a fan, skip this one. Country Jam takes place in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and headlines many top hit country singers. There is onsite camping to give you the full experience, or if you prefer you can shuttle from a hotel.

3. Vans Warped Tour.

Not exactly a festival, but definitely a day worth marking down on your calendar. They make stops in Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois. It's only a day long event but features several artists and literally lasts all day long.

4. Summer Set Music Festival.

A three-day festival in Somerset, Wisconsin. Get a camping pass and enjoy the music, or hang out with friends and drink the day away or even tube down the river. No matter what, you'll find a way to entertain yourself here.

5. Rock Fest Wisconsin.

Located in Cadott, Wisconsin, this is a three-day weekend full of rock and roll. You are able to camp on the grounds and let the party continue all night long. Acts include new age rock bands a few classics.

6. Basilica Block Party.

This is another one that's not quite a festival, but it's two nights full of music on the streets surrounding the historical Church of Basilica. There are three different stages, all hosting acts with different musical styles.

7. 515 Alive.

This is a no-camping two-day outdoor grassroots festival in De Moines, Iowa. Although the music ends fairly early in the night, each night has an after party so you can keep the music flowing all night long.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
