I always love going to the movies, and this year looks like it's shaping up to be a good one in the cinemas!

Here's a list of films I'm definitely going to see in theaters:

1. Silence

This novel-based film stars Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson, and Adam Driver in a story about several Portuguese monks who go through intense persecution because of their faith. I'm looking forward to seeing this on the screen, because it was a very good book that I still think about years after having read it.

Warning: from what I've read in the reviews and my memories of the book, it is not for the faint of heart. It is very difficult to watch.

2. Hidden Figures

Technically this was already in theaters in 2016, but now that it's widely available, I can't wait to see it. It follows the story of three incredibly intelligent women who were the brains behind the NASA moon-landing program. These women were also black and in a time of civil rights tension and racism mingled with sexism. It was a remarkable accomplishment forgotten by history until now. I'm glad their story is being told now!

3. Star Wars Episode 8 (Untitled)

Of course I had to include this one higher on the list even though it won't be out for quite a while. I have been a lifelong nerd/fan of the series since I was a kid. General Leia is one of my role models (rest in peace, space mother Carrie Fisher). This one is likely to follow more of Rey and Luke's journey, as well as continuing the story of pilot Poe Dameron and stormtrooper Finn in the fight against the dark side of the Force. I can't wait for a trailer, too. Let's hope the title is revealed soon, because this nerd is dying to find out!

4. Beauty and the Beast

This is a live-action adaptation of the classic story featuring Emma Watson (formerly Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies) and Dan Stevens (who played Matthew on Downton Abbey). I'm hoping it will be good, and to be honest I'm mainly seeing it because of Emma Watson, as well as Ewan McGregor in the role of Lumiere. I'm not expecting Oscar-worthy material, but it will be enjoyable.

5. Spider-Man: Homecoming

I've been a comic book nerd forever, and always enjoyed the Marvel cinematic universe adaptations of classic comic book superheroes. This latest Spider-Man movie features new actors, a new storyline, and most importantly, a Peter Parker who is actually played by a teenager. Zendaya also stars in the movie at some point, and I'm looking forward to finding out what role she plays in the storyline!

6. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2

The first Guardians movie with Chris Pratt was a wonderfully goofy superhero movie, and I hope that the sequel is just as lighthearted. Groot is back in baby form, along with all the other beloved characters from the first film. It'll be fun to see the entire cast back in action!

7. Dunkirk

I always enjoy historical movies, and from the previews I've seen of Dunkirk (which surprisingly features Harry Styles from One Direction). It should be a good and accurate war movie. The story of Dunkirk takes place in World War II, from the perspective of British soldiers during their harrowing rescue from a doomed battlefront. It will definitely be interesting seeing Harry Styles's entry into the acting world!

I hope you guys are able to see these movies too, and I'm always down to hang out or chat online about these films.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
