7 Life Lessons From 7th Heaven

Starting in 1996 when I was only two years old and ended in 2007 when I was 13 years old. One of the longest running family dramas on television. A modernly large family with seven children and living on a Protestant Minister’s dollar is not always easy along with being a family of the community church minister. The entire community of Glen Oak was watching all of the Camden children. There are several life lessons that can be learned from Eric, Annie, Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, Ruthie, Sam, David and Happy but here are the top 11!

  • The Importance of Family
  • Always Keep Your Eyes Open for Mr. Right
  • The Problems with Sex and Drugs
  • The Dangers of Lying and Half-Truthing
  • Be Thankful
  • Mother Knows Best
  • The Importance of Prayer

This lesson is a given considering it’s a family drama but in 2015 family has become significantly less important. This is one of the only TV shows where they show the family in church, around the dinner table and out and about. Besides the Comradery between the family members the show also contains the rivalry, temporary bitterness and the every struggles of family. Regardless of the chick fight between Mary and Lucy at Eric and Annie’s vow renewal wedding they hugged each other and walked down the aisle smiling. Family is the most important unit of society and even though 7th Heaven is eight years old this lesson still remains strong and important.

When Mary and Lucy fly to Buffalo Lucy makes some threats and get thrown ion Airport jail. This unfortunate event lead her to her Mr. Right, dorky Kevin. Who later moves into the Camden’s Garage Apartment, Marries Lucy, and have Savannah together. Kevin becomes a big part of the show. Also, shortly after Valentine’s Day Matt goes out in search for a girl, but sadly he get called into work. But, at work is where he meets Sarah, his bride. Also, the Camden’s helped a get home to New York for Christmas. Yes, Carlos and Mary meet later in New York and get married and then divorced and then in the last episode they are married again. Finding love can be difficult but when you fall in love go for it because love is what is important in life.

We all have heard the clique do not do drug or have sex before marriage. 7th Heaven says this but adds a special real examples. For example, why Simon has to graduate high school early, a student who was on drugs was after him for accidentally killing his brother. Furthermore, sex is huge topic in the show. The five kids are all schooled and reminded about the dangers sex even when they are in college. The lessons might me redundant but they are important especially to Christians.

The Camden kids are perfect, but they do lie especially to help out siblings. When Mary goes over the deep end and debt collectors are calling and calling the rest of them pull their money together including, toddlers, Sam and David. When Eric and Annie ask the kids where the money came from they told a half-truth and dancing around the straight up answer. Even when you do something wrong get tell the straight up truth because a lie lead to another lie and the hole gets deeper and deeper.

We have a house, a loving family, for every night, we might not have everything. Trying to cloth, feed, and house seven children cannot be easy but Annie Camden is great at it. But, whenever one of the children get greedy or selfish he or she is reminded how thankful they all are.

This might be clique but let’s get real mothers have a way of knowing everything. Mothers know what you are up to before you think of doing it. Annie Camden is great at being a shofar, chief, nanny, account, minister’s wife all tied into being a mother.

In the pilot Simon wants a dog. After both Annie and Eric say No to the dog Simon prays to God and gets the dog, Happy. 7th Heaven is a show based on the Christian Faith so prayer is a huge aspect but it really works and that God works in mysterious ways.

Overall, in the 11 seasons that 7th Heaven was on television it was a hit show that had great life lessons. Even though 7th Heaven ended in 2007 the lessons and issues are still relevant in 2015.This just a small list of life lessons that can be learned from the 11 years of a great show!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
