Screen Rant

It's 2016, and I just started binge watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix last month. I have been completely and utterly sucked in to the sex filled, drama filled and unrealistic-surgical-cases filled show and haven't looked back since. It is terrifying how quickly I can blow through one season. (Side note — the first three seasons were definitely my favorite. I sincerely miss George!)

We Grey's fanatics know for a fact there is nothing like Meredith's life lessons at the beginning and end of each episode. I do make it a point to listen to what she's saying because although it is a fictional show, there are some seriously good words of wisdom in there. Despite her beginning and end life lessons, I've pulled some of my favorite quotes from the show that really changed the way I think about life and relationships.

1. When Meredith showed George what real friendship is

Ah, yes, when George screwed Dr. Grey. What a memory. George was infuriated with Meredith after learning she didn't feel for him the way he felt for her, and wouldn't talk to her for (what we assume to be) weeks. Yet, she continued to show him that despite how angry he was at her, she was still there for him no matter what. She continued to remind him day in and day out that when the stars in the sky burn out and they grow old, she'd still be his friend through thick and thin. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a life lesson we need to take and apply to our daily lives. Loyalty equals one of the most important bases of friendship.

2. When George died, and Izzie flatlined on Alex

This was one of the most heart wrenching episodes to date, and the quote has stuck with me ever since. The full quote by Meredith reads:

"Did you say it? I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life. Did you say it? Make a plan? Set a goal? Work toward it? But every now and then, drink it in. Cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

This quote was trying to teach the viewers a huge lesson — say "I love you" when you can, no matter what, because you never know when the last time you're going to see someone will be. This really teaches us to embrace our loved ones and never take the present moment for granted. Always tell the people closest to you how important they really are. Shonda nailed this one.

3. When Meredith shut down Callie's denial about female attraction with this:

This definitely had to be one of the many times that I nearly laughed my ass off at this show. This was back when Callie had been separated from George for a short time and started to realize she might've been into women. "We screw boys like whores on tequila." Not only was Callie's denial about her sexual orientation comical because of her general character (she's one of my favorites), but Meredith and Cristina proved to yet again be an awesome pair of friends. Ok, maybe not a life changing quote, but certainly hilarious.

4. That time Cristina taught us that we have nobody in life except for ourselves

In this day and age, we are taught to believe that we need a man to validate our existence, and we can never be alone. But the cold, hard truth is that the only people we have in life are ourselves. At the end of the day, we live and die alone, and Dr. Yang is the epitome of independence and the importance of it. She has a fire inside of her that nobody can put out, and the above quote tells us to be ourselves, be unstoppable, and not give a crap what anybody thinks about it.

5. When Shonda heartbreakingly reminded us to recognize the importance of time

This is, by far, one of the best quotes in my opinion. Time is a win-lose situation. It does not wait for anybody, it doesn't stop — yet, it heals all wounds. It can be the best thing we've ever experienced, or the worst. And no matter what you are going through, it will never slow down or speed up. It teaches us to wait, it teaches us to love and forgive, and it teaches us to deal with whatever life hands us because there is no changing time.

6. That time Derek reminded us that pain is temporary

We've all been there. We've all been beat down to the point where it feels like we will never rise from this type of hurt — and the next day, the sun has risen, and we have moved on. McDreamy reminds us here that while one day we can experience the worst type of pain in the world, some day, it won't hurt this much — and that's why we keep on pushing, because the only way to get through the pain is to know that it doesn't last forever. Everything is temporary.

7. When George was adorable (as always) and showed us what having a real friend is like

George really showed us what it's like to have a real friend in your heart at all times when he put into words how strong him and Izzie's relationship was. They started out best friends, landed in the middle with a confusing we-might-be-in-love kind of thing, and ended with the strongest friendship out of every relationship on the show. Their friendship was pure, fun, loving, loyal, and some of the sweetest interactions witnessed on the show were between them. We miss you, Bambi.

Get ready for Season 13, Grey's fans!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
