Spotted: Blair Waldorf acting as a role model to every young girl on the Upper East Side.

1. Always go after what you want and do not let anyone stand in your way.

Blair was the queen of schemes. Even though these sometimes tended to get her into trouble she never gave up until she got what she wanted. Her perseverance was evident in her chase after Chuck Bass and in the way she went after her future career. She taught us girls that in order to get what you want, you have to fight for it. You have to fight harder than you ever though possible.

2. Don't let a boy define you.

Blair did not want to always stand in Chuck's shadow. Even though it nearly killed her to let him go, she had to in order to find herself and accomplish everything she ever wanted. She did not want to be known as Chuck Bass's girlfriend. She wanted to be known as Blair Waldorf. Blair taught us girls that boys should not define who we are. We need to create our own place in this world before we find someone to stand beside us.

3. Always forgive.

Every time Serena hurt Blair, or vice versa, Blair always forgave Serena. Serena almost ruined Blair's wedding and future with Louis, but Blair did not stay mad at Serena for long. Chuck slept with Jenny, one of the people Blair hated the most, and Blair still found it in her heart to forgive him. No matter what Serena, Dan, Chuck, or anyone did to Blair she always forgave them. Blair taught us that forgiveness is key. We have to forgive those that have hurt us because in the end bitterness only consumes us.

4. At some point, we all have to grow up and stop playing games.

Blair and Chuck played games for what seemed like forever, but by the end Blair was tired of the games. Blair grew up and told Chuck that he either loved her or he didn't, but she was done playing games either way. Blaire taught us that at some point we have to grow up. We cannot play games forever and we most certainly cannot let a boy play games with us forever.

5. Be powerful and stand up for what you believe in even if you're the only one standing.

Blair wanted to be one of the most powerful women in the world and by the end of the show, she was. Even while her mother's company was slowly declining, Blair still did everything in her power to keep the company afloat. Blair stood up for Chuck over and over again even when nobody else stood up for him. Blair taught us that we have what it takes to be powerful and we have to always stand up for what we believe in.

6. Don't be afraid to fall in love.

Blair fell in love with Chuck over and over again. She fell in love with Louis and with Marcus. She was never afraid to give her heart away. Blair taught us that it is okay to fall in love as long as we don't lose ourself in the midst. She taught us that it is okay to give our hearts away and it doesn't have to be scary to let someone love us.

7. There is a Chuck Bass waiting to make you his queen. Find Him. And don't stop until you do.

Chuck hurt Blair a lot, but he had his fair share of hurt as well. In the end, Chuck treated Blair the way every girl desires to be treated. Chuck made Blair his queen and never let her forget how great of a woman she really was. Blair taught us that their is a Chuck Bass for all of us, but we have to find him. He may not be the man we pictured, but he will be the man who treats us the way we have always wanted to be treated.

Looks like queen B has made an impact on girls everywhere. Til next time Blair.

XOXO, gossip girl.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
