When you think Johns Creek, only a handful of things come to mind: a bunch of smart competitive kids taking a thousand APs, a thriving locality for the technology industry, or an affluent community with spacious houses and lush greenery. But how much do you REALLY know about "the exception to the everyday."
1. It's almost in double digits.
Johns Creek was officially created in December 2006, meaning it'll be completing it's tenth year in about three months.
2. Lucky Number Thirteen
Johns Creek is the thirteenth highest earning city in the United States.
3. Indians have always been around.
While Johns Creek is known for its relatively high Indian population, in the 1800s, the area used to be a center of trading posts for the Cherokee tribe.
4. All roads lead to Rome...or pioneers
Many of the major roads in Johns Creek were named after old trading posts owned by local families such as Medlock or Findley.
5. Other roads had nautical origins.
Some large boats such as McGinnigs Ferry and Rogers Ferry were used to transport people across the river. Today these roads are used to transport SUVs, Jeeps, and Nissan Leafs.
6. Technology and GT graduates have been around for almost 40 years.
"Johns Creek" was originally the name of technology park created in the 1980s. The land for the park was bought by a few Georgia Tech graduates and eventually became a home for many Fortune 500 firms.
