These apps will make the average college student’s life SO much easier.
Are you trying to get a 4.0, 8 hours of sleep, stay healthy, save money, and be social all at the same time? Don’t just stare at your phone all day scrolling through social media, use your phone to make your life easier.
Download these apps to save time and money.
1. Poshmark
This app is amazing for selling clothes that you have only worn once, or you just simply don’t like. It is perfect for date function dresses that you refuse to wear again, or those Lilly Pulitzer dresses that are collecting dust in the back of your closet. I know there are clothes in your closet that you have never worn, so go ahead and sell them for some extra money. I go through my closet once a month and try and sell things that I never wear. Even if you sell one shirt a month for $5, it adds up!
2. Mint
This app is a great way to manage your money. I know most people already have their bank app on their phone, but this is an added bonus. It shows you where your money is going each week in a pie chart. It is really a wake-up call when you get an email on a Sunday saying that 90% of your money went toward food and drinks this past week. The notifications are a great way to visualize how much money you are actually spending and puts it in perspective.
3. Groupon
Whenever I need to buy something, I check if it is on Groupon first. They have anything you need, I find Groupons for 50% off haircuts and workout classes. It really makes treating yourself easier when you know you are saving over 50%. This app has saved me a lot of money, and I would definitely not be able to live without it.
4. Starbucks App
Okay it seems pointless, but if you are always on the go, it is super convenient to order food ahead of time. I order my coffee when I am about to get in the car and drive to work, so by the time I arrive at Starbucks it is already made and waiting for me. I use the Sweetgreen app too, and on my lunch break I can grab my already made salad that I schedule for pick up at 12. That way, I am not waiting in a half hour line for food and wasting half of my lunch break.
You also get points for using the app and it allows you to earn rewards and save money in the long run.
5. Fitbit
Yes, an actual Fitbit costs around $100. BUT this app is super helpful if you are trying to stay healthy in college. It tracks your water, calories, sleep, and steps all in one app. It vibrates to give you reminders to move and really holds you accountable for your health. It has honestly changed my life. BUT If you don’t have the budget for a fit bit there are some other great alternatives.
WATERLOGGED: water tracking
MY FITNESS PAL: food tracking
SLEEP CYCLE ALARM CLOCK: sleep tracking
6. Calm
I promise you do have time to relax. Take five minutes a day on this app, and it will help you manage your sleep and reduce stress. It is scary to try and combat stress on your own, but using an app is a great place to go if you don’t know where to start. Breathing exercises and meditation will really help you if you are feeling overwhelmed
7. Habitica
This app turns your to-do list into a real life game, which really motivates you to get stuff done and stay on top of your tasks. Which is super helpful if you are juggling multiple clubs and enrolled in a lot of school credits. There are in-app rewards and punishments, helping you achieve your goals and stay motivated.
