7 Inventions To Make College Easier

College is a place where—after a student pays for book, housing, meal plans, tuition and fees— the possibility of having objects needed to live a comfortable life are low. College students stay up late studying or partying and sleep in late. We lose things in the street and don't have enough power outlets to share with our roommates. We wake up and throw on last nights clothes and overall, don't usually care what we look like for that dreaded 8 a.m. class, but the world understands. They were all there once too, so some ingenious people have invented things to help us get through college with as few problems as possible. These seven inventions could be key to your ease of life in college.

1. Washable Keyboard

We all sit in bed or at the library snacking on food and energy drinks trying to stay up and eventually the horrifying moment will come when you spill something all over your precious laptop or the school's property. With a washable keyboard, you could eat Doritos off the space bar and no longer have to worry.

2. Collapsible Bowls

I know personally there is already very little space in a dorm room for a bed and a closet much less plates, bowls, and a drying rack for wet dishes if there is even a sink in the room. Collapsible bowls can act as a plate or a bowl and can make that microwaved queso for you corn chips that much more accessible.

3. LED Slippers

When I walk into my room at 3:30 in the morning, the last thing I want to do is wake up my roommate. This means I can't turn on the lights and the flashlight on my phone might not be enough. With LED Slippers, you can make sure that you don't stub your toe on the edge of your bed and pop a blood vessel trying not to yell at the top of your lungs in pain.

4. Can Handle

When you're out with your friends sitting at a bonfire in the cold, one of the most uncomfortable things you have to deal with is the cold can of the beverage of your choice against your hand. Also, when you could have sworn you put your can next to this exact leaf on the ground but its gone you look around but everyone is holding cans that look exactly the same! With a handle, you'll know exactly which drink is yours.

5. Tile Application and Key Fob

Tile is a small wireless key fob that you can attach to anything you could possibly lose. It connects to the Tile app on your phone and when it is lost you can tell the fob to make a loud sound to help you find it or you can locate it with GPS. It is very handy for the person who tends to set important things down and forget about where they put them. You can attach it to your keys, bike, wallet, luggage, or purse. If they ever get misplaced, you'll know just where to find them. For $25 you can never lose your belongings again.

6. Rotating Outlets

There are a very limited amount outlets to share between you and your roommate. When there are enough to go around, all the varying sizes of plugs from your devices can tend to get in the way of each other. With this power strip, that is no longer a problem. The rotation between the individual outlets as well at the outlet circle themselves let any size plug fit in any place.

7. Ironing Board Mirror

While this invention isn't necessarily fun, it is certainly handy. When there isn't much space to keep your "nice clothes" or as I call them, "Interview Clothes", from wrinkling, an iron would be handy, but unfortunately keeping an ironing board in a small room isn't very practical. This invention combines a body mirror, which nearly everyone finds to be a necessity, and an ironing board to save space.

College is one of the most exciting times in a persons life, but it can also be one of the most difficult. These seven inventions can help make your student experience much more relaxed and fun.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
