Followers fade, memes are forever.

7 Internet Trends I Miss

Social media is a gaping black hole for all the best and worst jokes/ideas/anything. They come and go, and for some of them, we can be thankful when they leave. But others, we will continue to miss and even make attempts to bring back.

1. Ditty

If you can type it, you can make it into a heavily autotuned song, and that's why we need Ditty in the world. I have recently been attempting to bring Ditties back myself which has gained no such traction so far. If you would like to see all the good Ditty can bring to the world, feel free to watch this or this for reference.

2. I Came Out to Have a Good Time, and I'm Honestly Feeling So Attacked.

Comedy gold. Important to use at every minor inconvenience in your life. I still use it to this day, but it was never a big trend, so people probably just think I am being dramatic, which I am, and not funny. Out of all memes ever, this one might just have the most potential. Here is a compilation of some good ones.

3. Grumpy Cat

I know Grumpy Cat is still "around" and got his own movie, but it's just not like it used to be. I am not sure it ever will be again. As someone who is particularly grumpy, I just miss the relatability of it all.

4. Left Shark

Speaking of relatability, we all know a Left Shark in our lives. Maybe we all are the Left Shark in our lives. It's fine. With his sick moves, Left Shark stole the show in Katy Perry's Super Bowl performance. Our shining light in a dark time.

5. Hipster-Mocking Motivational Posters

I'm sure that's not the official title of this movement. I really try to be supportive of people's things. If your thing is cheesy internet motivational/mopey posters, that's fine. If it's what gets you through the day, go for it, but sometimes, or more than sometimes, they get to be a little too much emotional turmoil in one picture of a leaf, and it just feels good to put them in their place.

6. Trivia Crack

Trivia Crack was good at so many things. You got to show your friends how little useless, or trivial, knowledge you really had with the added bonus of making them hate you for taking more than three minutes to play back. It was one of those things that turned from a game to a chore real quick. Instead of getting excited when you got the notification someone played you back, it felt like you were going to die of exhaustion having to spin a wheel and answer a question. I just want to make Trivia Crack fun again.

7. Miley, What's Good?

When Nicki Minaj said this to Miley Cyrus at the VMAs, I started screaming right then and there in my dorm room. I am surprised nobody called a noise complaint honestly. This may be the most iconic thing to happen in my lifetime. Y'all, I named my goldfish "What's Good Miley." I may have singlehandedly killed this meme with my overuse, but honestly, I regret nothing, and y'all can bet I'm gonna try to bring it back.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
