7 Things Indecisive People Know All Too Well

Indecisiveness is almost instinctive.

Growing up, I've always struggled with making decisions, whether I was choosing what outfit to wear, what to eat at a restaurant, or choosing which college I should attend. I'd like to think the older I got, the better I was a making those decisions, but sometimes I wonder if I'll always struggle to make a decision. However, I feel like I'm not the only one out there who's been told "Hurry up and choose!" especially when it's out time to order. Here are 7 signs you might be indecisive:

1. Making a decision brings anxiety

You'd think we'd be choosing life or death here instead of which ice cream flavor we should eat. Seriously though, any decision brings anxiety.

2. You're afraid to make the wrong decision

So, our anxiety levels go up because we are so afraid that we'll make the wrong decision. What if I don't like that ice cream flavor? What if it doesn't go with my toppings? What if I don't like the major I chose? What if I don't like my job. All the wonderful "what if's" start jumping around our minds because..what if we make the wrong decision?

3. You over analyze EVERYTHING

Not only are we anxious and afraid to make the wrong decision, but now our brains over over analyzing everything. Suddenly, we are looking at all the small details about the decision we are about to make and all the the many different possible (not likely) outcomes.

4. Too many options

Now that our brain is on overload and analyzing the options, we start to think of all the other possible options we could make. One by one different choices start popping up and we think "Oh! See I could make choose that option, or that option, or that option..." (you get it). So now we feel anxious, we're afraid of making the wrong decision, our brain starts to over analyze each and every possible decision because, suddenly there become more.

5. Small decisions become big

Now that all of this is happening (mind you, this is all within 30 second to five minutes) what was a small easy decision become large and in charge. When a situation comes up and a decision needs to be made, it feels almost impossible to make one, even if it's small.

6. Frustrated

Now, people are frustrated. I mean, why can't they just decide? And I totally get that. How frustrating when you need us to make a decision and we won't or say we can't. How frustrating when we have to make a choice on something big and life changing like what college to attend, what job we should choose, what major we should study, where we should live, who we should live with, who we should date, who we should marry, etc. I mean it seems like it takes us five times longer to come to a decision than most. Trust me, I completely understand how frustrating it is because I frustrate myself.

7. Don't worry, it can get better

If there is anything I've learned in my hesitant filled life is it gets better. The older I get, the easier it is to make a decision and the easier it is to do if fast. Try to remember that making a decision will always be harder and practice making a decision and sticking with it. Don't look back.

Just have a little patience with us...we're getting there.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
