All of us can agree we have bad habits that are so hard to shake off, whether it's biting our nails or popping zits. While walking my dog yesterday evening, I remembered how I use to run with my pooch every single morning before finishing the day with other tasks, and honestly I don't know why I stopped. So I came up with 7 different healthy habits you should either put into your daily routine or do once in a while.
1. Pottery
Getting your hands dirty can actually be very therapeutic. Pottery classes take time in explaining what must be done and provide assistance if needed, plus you get to let your imagination run wild, or not run at all. Your choice. Either way one thing is for certain, your mind will be at ease.
2. Painting
The best thing about this habit is that you don't need to take classes if you don't want to! Just simply buy some paint, brushes, and an empty canvas. Oh, and maybe another shirt since you'll definitely get messy. There's no "right" way to paint except to just let out your thoughts and emotions on that canvas. Not everyone is Picasso, and that's alright. What matters is you unwind painting whatever you want on the canvas. Be proud of YOUR own masterpiece. Even if it's just stick figures.
3. Keep a journal
I've been writing in journals since elementary school, and it's wonderful reading back and comparing how much I've grown mentally since then. I always tell this to my friends, keeping a journal is very healthy and a fun way to track anything! From dreams, thoughts, etc. the possibilities are endless. Just pitching ideas here; you can write down your favorite quotes from movies, make a bucket list, or make yourself a list of goals you want to achieve.
4. Take dancing classes
To all my fellow dancers who CANNOT shake their hips to save their lives but still get down, I applaud you. There's no reason why you can't brush up on your bachata right? Even if you completely suck it's totally fine! You won't be the first one trust me, and honestly, who cares? Have fun and let loose. There's nothing more liberating than enjoying yourself.
5. Pampering yourself
Some of us hardly tend to ourselves, and that's a crime in itself. Especially for us young women. As much as I LOVE getting my nails done, I haven't seen them primped since high school prom. School, work, family, whatever your situations are it's so easy to forget about yourself but please try not to. Your body alone does a lot for you, show it some love! Even a face mask can do wonders! You'll feel relaxed and more like yourself.
6. Take Polaroid pictures
A blast from the past, you'll have something to show your children or grandchildren years from now. These are the best way to preserve the moment if you're into vintage like me, and you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on the actual Polaroid camera. You can go to amazon and buy the Fujifilm Instax Mini camera, which behaves like a Polaroid but is less expensive (under $80) and is much smaller with a variety in color.
7. Exercising
I can hear half of you whining already. Listen, exercising is good for your health and reduces your risks of heart problems when you're old, just walking everyday can increase your metabolism by 8%. Running or jogging melts body fat and increases muscle mass, and doing squats slims down the thighs and also increases muscle mass. All of them together do so many good things for your body. Why not start?
