It's October, which means it's the first day of Halloween. It's time to break out your decorations, baking skills, and most importantly, your costumes. What should you be for Halloween, though? Here are a few ideas, from classic to strange, that will inspire your costume for the 31st.

1. Rey from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"

The popularity of last year's new installment of the "Star Wars" series continues this year. Rey's costume is for sale from many costume retailers, and it seems easy enough to do yourself. If you love "Star Wars," then this is the costume for you.

2. Unicorn

While the unicorn is a classic mythical creature, it doesn't seem like being a unicorn for Halloween has been very popular until recently. Now, though, unicorn costumes come in a variety of styles. There are unicorn onesies (for adults) for sale, and a bit of creativity can allow you to create your own costume!

3. Charlie Chaplin

If you're looking for a fun but easy costume to put together, try this iconic face. Charlie Chaplin was a star in Hollywood in the early 1900s, acting in many silent films. The makeup is easy enough, with a pale base and black for the facial hair. Then take a trip to your local thrift store and pick up an old suit jacket, white shirt, and a bowler hat. After that, add a cane, and you are good to go!

4. Werewolf

The werewolf is one of the tried and true costumes that can still be unsettling. With the right makeup, the cheesy werewolf people think of can actually still make Halloween as spooky as it used to be. Release your inner animal this Halloween!

5. Baba Yaga

If you're thinking about being a witch this Halloween, don't go with your garden variety one. Become Baba Yaga, the evil witch that appears in Slavic folklore! She is said to live in a hut that walks around on chicken feet, and likes to eat people. She is the quintessential scary old witch, so celebrate her legend by paying homage to her with your costume.

6. Roaring 20's

It's almost the 20's again, believe it or not. This Halloween, pay homage to a century ago when flappers and mobsters dodged prohibition. While you're at it, you had better learn the Charleston, too.

7. Boxed Wine

Speaking of alcohol, a hilarious costume that has been gaining popularity lately is boxed wine. Show up to a Halloween party in this, and you will be getting complements and laughs all night.

If you were lacking creativity before, this should spark something for you. It's never too early to start planning for the best holiday of the year! Halloween is lurking right around the corner. Scary or funny, get to work on planning your costume!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
