Oh, the joys of Halloween and the dreadful process of deciding on a costume. Picking out what you will dress as for a maximum of five hours takes originality, research, possibly some tears, and not to mention a chunk of change. In order to help with the Halloween costume struggle, I have compiled a list of Halloween costume ideas that can considered DIY or can more than likely be purchased from your local benefit shop.

1. Tweedledee and Tweedledum

What you'll need: a yellow shirt, red shorts/skirt, a blue tie, a red hat, and a friend. Seriously, how easy is that? Best dynamic duo ever! Here's a picture from Disney for reference purposes.

2. Starbucks...because what's hotter than coffee?

What you'll need: a white dress, paper bags or cardboard, white paper, a maker, and a printer. Buy the dress from your local Good-Will or thrift shop, print the Starbucks emblem, and the rest from wherever has the best deals. Be sure to write "Extremely hot" on the holder and there's major bonus points if you misspell your name!

3. Dog filter

You use it everyday (don't deny it), so why not on Halloween too? What you'll need: light and dark brown face paint, and brown dog ears. Grab a friend and make it a pack with white and black paint for the Dalmatian friend. You'll probably have to walk around with your tongue out, though.

4. Damian

What you'll need: A blue hoodie, jeans, black sunglasses, and a sign (we all know what the sign says). Bonus points if you find someone at the party who really doesn't ever go there.

5. Miss Universe and Miss Almost Universe

The most devastating and most hilarious moment of 2016 was hands down when Miss Universe was crowned twice. Grab a friend and one of you be Miss Columbia and the other Miss Philippines. What you'll need: a blue dress, a gold dress, a sash for each, and one crown.

6. Kermit

Is it really your business? Probably not. What you'll need: a green dress or shirt, black leggings, a cup of tea, and an insulting, but funny, sign. Example: "I see your costume is made of lingerie, cat ears and heels. But that's none of my business."

7. Biggie Smalls and Lil Wayne

This one is obviously for Bigs and Littles. It may be a little difficult to find pieces of the costumes, but Biggie for sure needs a crown and Lil Wayne needs dreads and tear drop tattoos.

Hopefully, these costumes can give you some ideas, or at least get your creativity flowing. Let's be honest, this Halloween we really don't need another Minnie Mouse, cat, superhero, or deer.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
