It's been over a month since the Walt Disney World Parks closed their doors. With the coronavirus still being a developing issue, it doesn't look like the doors will be opening back up anytime soon. As a Disney lover myself, I am missing the parks and the magic more than anything, however, I have found some awesome ways to fill the void.
Accordingly, here are 7 ways to bring Disney magic to your home during this quarantine!
1. Enjoy your favorite Disney treat at home.
Lately, the Walt Disney Company has been releasing different recipes for some of their most popular Disney treats, including; Dole Whip and Churros. Yes, you read that correctly, you can now make some of the most popular Disney treats in the comfort of your own kitchen. Those, though, are not the only Disney snacks that you can enjoy from your home! Did you know that Disney has a dessert line that can be found at most grocery stores? This line includes Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches, Millennium Falcon Ice Cream Sandwiches, and some Pixar Ice Cream Flavors. My personal favorite is the Monster Inc Cookies and Scream, a fun twist on a classic flavor. Bring the magic to your home, by enjoying your favorite treat!
2. Forget Netflix, watch Disney Plus.
Disney Plus is the easiest way to bring some Disney magic to your home; rewatch the classics, watch something new, with Disney Plus, the opportunities are endless! I personally recommend watching the Imagineering Story, watch how the company we know and love came to be!
3. Run a Virtual runDisney 5k.
I don't know about you, but since there is not much else to do currently, I have been working out a lot. Accordingly, I think it would be fun to have a goal; something to work for! runDisney has a Virtual 5k Series in June, July, and August that would be something great to train for. When you participate in one of these races, you get a commemorative finisher medal, a downloadable race bib and even a finisher certificate! They even offer playlists to listen to on Spotify and Apple Music. Bringing the magic of runDisney to your favorite at home running route!
4. Drink around the World or your house.
Now this one is for my 21 and up friends! Turn each room of your house into a different country and take a trip around the world. Set up different bars or restaurants at each "country", print off some passports and wear your favorite Disney gear, then you are off on your adventure! To set the mood, you can even lookup the World Showcase background music on YouTube to immerse you in the atmosphere. Safe travels, world traveler!
5. End the day with your favorite Disney Fireworks show.
Disney's Fireworks shows are genuinely the best and though we cannot watch them in person during this time. There are some great videos on YouTube of almost every Disney Fireworks show. If you're an OG Disney fan, you probably love Happily Ever After but were always a fan of Wishes, you can watch both! Use this time to revisit the magic from the comfort of your living room! I personally recommend watching a new show each night. Then it's almost like you're visiting a new park each day. I personally couldn't think of a better way to end each day!
6. Have a Disney themed dinner.
There are multiple ways that this can be done. Have your family dress up as their favorite Disney characters or even theme the dinner based on your favorite movie. Make some ratatouille for dinner and have a Ratatouille themed dinner. Want something a little simpler? Try spaghetti and meatballs for Lady and the Tramp. Get creative and have a fun meal at home!
7. Watch ride POVs.
With camera quality being so good nowadays, there are many great ride POVs that actually make you feel like you are on the ride. You can park hop in seconds and the best part of riding rides virtually, is that there is no wait! Meaning, you don't have to wake up at 6 am to get a Rise of the Resistance boarding pass. You can just open up your computer and boom you're on the ride.
