America is always moving and with that fashion is one of the industries that has the power to influence so many different generations of people. With that there are trends that stick around and flourish and then there are trends that don't do so well. The world has never failed to surprise me in what it's capable of and it's honestly really fun and interesting to see what kinds of fashion trends are happening around the world.
1. Cold shoulder tops
These shirts have been around for a couple of years now but to be completely honest, they have just never made any sense to me. Like long-sleeved shirts were created for warmth, so why defeat the purpose with holes in the shoulders? What good does that do? I just think that if you're going to wear clothes you might as well wear them for the purpose they were created for and not make another hybrid of it. I mean the name fits the article of clothing-- 'cold shoulder' well your shoulders might be cold if you wear this in the winter. They come regular shirts and sweaters which defeats the purpose of sweaters times ten. I just don't think these shirts are efficient and useful so I don't know why people would spend their money on shirts that aren't useful.
2. Bermuda wide-legged jean capri pants
I don't really even know what these are even called and they don't have a formal title so I don't know why they exist. I mean props to the girls that can pull these off but I'm just not even sure how you would even wear them. It's just weird because they're not cropped pants where they are just above the ankles and they're not bermudas that are above the knee. That's the thing, they're in that very awkward part of the leg that no one knows how dress when pants hit there. Like skirts are okay when they hit there because they're like midi skirts and its a cute housewife or mom going on but you can't even say that about these bottoms. They're like gauchos that were popular when I was about 8 years old so I don't know why they're coming back and especially in denim.
3. Shoes with any kind of fuzz of fluff ball
So I'm conflicted with this one solely because I see pairs of slides that are cute but then when I get to thinking about what kind of outfit I would actually wear with them with I can't seem to think of any and then I'm just like "yeah I can't wear these". I feel like I wouldn't be able to pull them off but also There are some really ugly ones out there. Like okay, some fuzz is like kind of cute but then you have some with fuzz, sparkles, beads, pearls, and whistles and it's like where did the simplicity of fashion go? And I thought those poof ball car keychains were bad...
4. Undersized sunglasses
So this one is kind of interesting because I always thought this fashion trend was just... odd. The transparent sunglasses were something that I was okay with because they we're cool party glasses but it took an all new level when they became tiny and undersized. So to me it seems like they were trying to combine those glasses and like sun bathing glasses. You know, those tiny eye goggle things so you don't get bad tan lines. Do they really even do anything? I'm just not really even sure because they make people look like Barbie and like she can't fit her sunglasses on her face.
5. Really large white frumpy shoes
I have seen these almost in every shoe store that makes sneakers/tennis shoes and I haven't really been sure what they even are but these honestly might be the worst. I'm not sure how these even came out in the sense of how they became one of the top fashion trends across the world. They're just so clunky and large that I'm just confused how people's feet don't feel super heavy when they walk. There are so many other shoe options that are available so why those? It's a fashion trend that has come out of the woodwork from decades ago and I really don't know why. Hopefully, this one doesn't stick around too much longer.
6. Spandex cycling shorts
I'm not really sure how this even came about as a trend, let alone an everyday wear one for some. Cycling shorts were made for cycling believe it or not. So why they have been added to the every day wardrobe when they're not even cycling just makes no sense. They're tight and they make me feel uncomfortable because they're an awkward length as well. Not to mention people should just keep them in their cycling classes and off the streets. No one needs that when you could just wear a normal pair of shorts. The trend was big in the Kardashian family but I'm not sure why the trend has carried over to the rest of the world is unknown.
7. Tiny purses
So this fashion trend is completely useless. Altogether it defeats the purpose of what purse is actually supposed to do. Like you can't even fit your phone in there. What are you supposed to put in there... chapstick, headphones, your car keys, a pen? And then what? You probably can't even fit two of the items above in that tiny little bag. Sure, maybe you got a designer tiny purse but it was probably still way too much for basically nothing. If you're going to by a bag or purse then at least get a decent sized bag so you can put at least your phone in it. It really just defeats the purpose of a purse and I'm not sure why it's such a big trend going on today.
