Cats are majestic creatures. They can come in many different shapes, sizes, and, well, fur colors. Not only that, but they are also very free-spirited. According to the Cat Museum of San Francisco, cats were greatly worshiped by the Ancient Egyptians. They were practically royalty! In fact, the Egyptians even worshiped a cat goddess named Bastet.
With that being said, here are the seven most fascinating cat breeds with a fact or two about them.
1. Japanese Bobtail
Surprisingly, the Japanese Bobtail cat would make a fantastic pet for a family. They are filled with energy and so much love. Their little bobtails are not just unique to the breed, but unique to an individual cat. Just like humans don't have the same fingerprints, Japanese Bobtail cats don't have the same tail! Kinda cool, right?
2. Tonkinese Cat
These lovely kitties are full of personality! They are very vocal (meaning that they meow a lot) and very hungry for love and attention. Tonkinese Cats are a mixed breed between Siamese and Burmese cats.
3. Norwegian Forest Cat
Called a "
4. Manx Cat
One thing I find to be very interesting about Manx cats is that they have a very protective instinct. Manx cats have top notch hunting skills and a very alert nature.
5. Egyptian Mau
Egyptian Mau cats are loving creatures with a huge devotion to their families, along with some mad hunting skills as well! Having been originated from Egypt, Egyptian Maus have a huge sense of royalty. One of their favorite activities is sitting on their owner's lap being loved and cherished.
6. Munchkin Cat
Munchkin cats have shorter legs than other cats due to a genetic mutation. Despite this, they still have the ability to do things that other cats can do! Such as hunting, playing, jumping and climbing! They also have sweet personalities and would make a great family pet!
I'd so be lying if said I didn't want one.
7. Peterbald
Don't let their appearances mislead you. These Russian cats are actually one of the kindest cat breeds! While they do not have fur, they do have a beautiful body that moves gracefully. While being outside, they may need sunscreen, since they do not have fur to protect their skin from the sun.
