Fall is officially in the air! Besides the PSL you're smelling, also within that air is either a crisp breeze or the scorching heat - there is no in between (thanks, Michigan). So when you are walking to your 8 a.m. and shivering, but sweltering hot by 2, what is a gal to do? Versatile clothing, friends, it is the only way to survive fall.

Cardigans. Cardigans. Cardigans.

They are great because they are easy to remove and put back on without the mess of putting your desk down [in the lecture hall] and shoving a sweater over your head (smushed hair, too - oops). Pair it with a tee or tank underneath so that you can take the cardigan off when it gets too hot. All cardigans are not the same. That's a motto I live by; there are long cardigans, shorter cardigans, thick-and-feel-like-a-blanket cardigans, thin cardigans for those fall days that sit at about 70 degrees, etc. etc. etc.

Boots

Timberland, Sperry's, Uggs, whatever you choose. Another versatile piece is boots. If you own multiple pairs it's even better, because some pairs just look better with outfits. My suggestion: a pair of work-type boots, preferably waterproof (highly recommend Timberland) for those rainy fall days, and a pair of dressier combat boots or booties for those days you want to look like an edgy badass in a peplum dress and tights.

Scarves

Another versatile piece that also comes in 1,000 ways. Blanket scarves, infinity scarves, knit scarves, scarves scarves scarves - they dress up anything. Have a presentation and don't think your nice jeans and top help enough? Scarf.

Dress/Skirt + Tights

Choose your girly preference - I'm more of a dress girl just because I don't like to have to find a shirt to go with my skirt. Anyways, pairing it with tights helps add the fall vibe while also keeping you cool. Going to be warmer as the day goes on? That's OK! Just wear thinner tights until the colder weather sets in - by that time, fleece-lined tights will be your safe haven.

Side note: This model is wearing everything I have already listed together! Killin' it.

Hats

These hats compliment pretty much anything you're wearing. If you're not feeling these, a classic beanie will do, too.

Bad hair day? Beanie.

Black/Dark Wash Jeans

I basically live in dark wash jeans, just because they're easy to dress up or down - same with black jeans! They transition easily between each season, as well.

Button Ups

Flannel, chambray, striped, whatever! It all depends on you and your mood. Either way, these can pair nicely with cardigans or sweaters.

Before you go asking yourself how you could ever afford these staples, I am here to tell you that you do not have to look far, or empty out your bank account. H&M pretty much stocks up on all of these items in many different styles, and Forever 21 is right alongside it. Also, if you cannot find any scarves or hats you like, I usually turn to online shopping - Amazon has great ones, as well!

Happy Fall, y'all!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
