August is here and that means that school is starting back. Some of us enjoy school, while others dread going back. Public schools are preparing to welcome students back after a long summer away, and college students are packing up their belonging and getting ready to move back to campus. During all this transition, it is expected to feel different emotions. Whether you are starting high school, your first year of college or you're packing to move back to college, emotions are jumping around like wild fire.
1. Excitement
We're all ready to see our friends again. Some we haven't seen in several months while others we saw last week. Either way, it's fun to get back with friends and catch up.
2. Fear
Am I taking too many classes? Where are my classes? Do I have enough time to get across campus? Will my teachers like me? So many fears and questions rattle through our minds as we pack up to go back to school.
3. Anger
Why do we have to leave home when everything is fine just how it is? This was my biggest emotion when I was packing up for my first year at college. If home was so great, why did I have to leave it? I didn't understand.
4. Frustration
Do I pack just fall clothes or all my clothes? Why is nobody helping me pack? Now I have help and they're packing everything wrong. Why can't everything fit in this bag? Ughhhhh
5. Sadness
The saddest part for me was having to leave my dogs when I went off to school. You could almost see it in their eyes when they looked up at you, pleading for you not to go.
6. Happy
You finally get all your shoes packed into one suitcase. The car is loaded and you are finally ready to head off to school.
7. Confident
Once all your stuff is packed and ready to go, your confidence comes back as you are ready to take on this next year. Your dormroom is organized and books are purchased. You are ready to hit the ground running.
