Want to make your dorm room Pinterest worthy or more Instagrammable, but don’t have any money left?!?! Try out these fun (and cheap) DIY’S to spruce up your boring room, and they’re all under $20!

1. Vintage Mason Jars

This is a super easy and inexpensive way to organize your makeup brushes or school supplies! If you use two coats of a “One Step” paint, it will produce a more pigmented color. To get a more vintage look, you can let your paint dry for 24 hours and distress them with sandpaper (or a sturdy nail file). Voila!! A customizable and colorful organization system. (This can cost under $15 for 12 mason jars- maybe split with your roommate so you can both have cute decor for cheaper!)

2. Little Ol' Tapestries

A fun way to customize your wall is with small tapestries! However, they can be crazy expensive. Here’s an awesome way to create your own on a budget, all you’ll need is fabric paint and white canvas towels!! You can look up some inspiration online and recreate a cute tapestry you've been eyeing. Or, if you're like me and totally unartistic, go crazy with colors and create a tie-dye-esque one! (This one can cost as little as $10, depending on how many tapestries you want to make.)

3. Canvas Customization

Another great way to vamp up your walls is to get a canvas (or multiple) and paint something! Get some inspiration from designs you like or paint the view from your room. This can be really relaxing and can be a fun activity to do with your friends! (Amazon has a pack of 4 small canvases for $7! This craft can definitely cost under 15 bucks.)

4. Plants “Rock”!

So, if you've been wanting a plant but don’t think you have time to water it, this is a perfect craft for you!I found this one on Pinterest, basically you paint a rock to look like a succulent and “plant it” in a pot with soil or other smaller rocks! (Since rocks aren’t hard to find, this craft is easily under $15, rock on!!)

5. Real Plants Are Still Cool

Buy a pre-potted plant, I would recommend a succulent because it only needs to be watered at least once a week! On the pot of the plant, use sharpies to write phrases or quotes that make you happy. I made a positivity succulent, his name was sucky, and i wrote quotes that keep me positive. Or, you can paint it and make cute designs! (Nice succulents can be pricey but this craft will be less than about $20!)

6. Washi Tape!!

This is a great way to spruce up your room. Instead of hanging your pictures with clothespins or sticking them on the wall with double sided tape, use washi tape on the outside to create a border! Washi tape is colored tape that comes in different sizes and designs!! You can be really creative with this so go out, buy a few rolls and start decorating!! (Two rolls of washi tape at craft stores are usually $5, on amazon you can get packs of up to ten for less than $10!)

7. Shoe Box Storage

I love this craft because it costs you almost nothing and it’s super simple. Take any shoe box or cardboard box you have and decorate it how you please! I would use the leftover paint, washi tape or sharpies from other crafts. Shoe boxes are perfect for storage and they’re super sturdy so they can hold heavy items too. I like to put cards and pictures in mine. I use bigger boxes to hold books and beauty supplies so my space doesn’t look as cluttered!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
