7 Disney Characters Who Will Brighten Up Your Day

The aftermath of the recent presidential election has been extremely disorienting. Some people are rejoicing and praising God while others are protesting and rioting in the streets. What we as a country need to do is rally together, Republicans and Democrats alike, and shine some light on the more cheerful things in life. The Odyssey community at Franciscan University has compiled a list of our favorite animated Disney characters in an attempt to brighten up your Facebook feeds and Twitter timelines with pure, radiant joy.

1. Belle

Beauty and the Beast is one of the best, most hopeful, most romantic love stories of all time. While Belle literally means beauty, the princess is so much more than her attractiveness; she is unconventional, intelligent, compassionate, graceful, outspoken, stubborn, motherly, understanding, and selfless.

2. Mulan

Mulan didn't let the fact that she was a woman get in the way of sacrificing her life for her father, her family, and her country. She is brave and bold, using courage and determination to save the day.

3. March Hare

While this silly, ill-mannered rabbit may not be the first Disney character that comes to mind, his elegant insanity is to be adored. The Alice in Wonderland character is absolutely mad, but his charm makes him irresistible.

4. Mike Wazowski

Mikey is a comical little monster who immensely cares about the people he loves. He is hilarious, loyal, and resourceful. "Put that thing back where it came from, or so help meeeee!"

5. Magic Carpet

Another one of the unconventional Disney characters, Magic Carpet is playful and pure of heart. His strong bond with Aladdin, despite disliking his lies, shows how remarkable a friendship can be: we must look past each other's flaws in order to truly be there for one another.

6. Dug

Up would not be the same without this handsome little pup! This obese, fun-loving golden retriever loves everyone he comes across, showing kindness to every single person he meets. We could all learn a thing or two from Dug!

7. Pascal

For a tiny green chameleon, Pascal sure has a big heart. He is a true and loyal friend to Rapunzel, becoming suspicious of and slightly aggressive towards strangers who might harm her. Pascal is Rapunzel's cheerleader, constantly cheering her up, rooting her on, and refusing to allow her to take steps backwards.

Nobody is ever too old for cuddling up with some hot cocoa and watching Disney movies. These movies create magical characters that we can all relate to, bringing people everywhere pleasure and delight.

mistake
Project Eve

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
