If you live in the LA/OC area and are craving some delicious sweets, here are 7 places you absolutely need to try! There are options for all types of sweets-lovers; drinks, frozen treats, gummy surprises, refreshing flavors, chewy textures, and hot glazed delicacies. Next time you need something to satiate your sweet-tooth, head over to one—or all—of these delicious sweeteries!

1. Chocolate Chair

Chocolate Chair is a wonderful dessert stop hidden behind The Face Shop! Their specialty sweet and personal show, is their liquid nitrogen ice cream. They make ice cream (or sorbet) fresh for each customer. Right after an employee takes your order, you are greeted with billowing nitrogen-induced fog. The freshly churned frozen dessert provides an extremely creamy flavor.

My personal favorite is their Blueberry ice cream. Soft and chewy blueberries speckle the ice cream, sweet and tart flavors of blueberries permeate through the rich cream, and the crumbly texture melts in your mouth. Another delicious flavor to try is their Salted Caramel and Pretzel ice cream. This combines salty, sweet, crunchy, and smooth flavors and textures. I would recommend either of these to anyone, they are sure to impress!

2. Creamery N7

Similar to Chocolate Chair, Creamery N7 is another great liquid nitrogen cafe! The customer service is out of this world, the owner is a sweetheart and extremely hospitable, he makes the experience so much more enjoyable.

I, as a person, am passionate about the Chai flavor. I love everything Chai, so, it was to my great surprise and excitement that they serve Chai ice cream. I would definitely recommend trying this flavor to any fellow Chai-lover. The earthy tea, spicy herbs, and custardy ice cream is phenomenal. I’ve also tried a healthy spoonful of their Red Velvet ice cream, which combines the unique chocolatey and buttermilky flavors of cake with the creamy ice cream, then adding in some soft cake crumbles. These are great options I’d recommend for those ready for a flavor roller-coaster!

3. Cafe Mochilato

Cafe Mochilato is an adorable little dessert cafe, hidden in a strip-mall plaza. Mochilato has a wall of books, tons of intimate seating options, a communal bench, and gorgeous displays for their sweets.

Their Peach ice cream is fruity and floral. While the texture is good, the flavor is the shining feature. The flavor is reminiscent of rose, perfumey, but in a good way. The taste is unique and an excellent option for those willing to adventure! But the adventure doesn’t stop here, Mochilato also serves exquisite little Passion Fruit and Raspberry Macaroons. These macaroons are airy, crumbly, crispy, chewy, and packed with wonderful sweet fruit flavors. Perfect for surprising someone special with a cute baggie filled with these!

4. Snow Station

Snow Station is dessert shop every foodie needs to check out. The snow is airy, light, powdery, icy, and flakey—very much like snow! Imagine ice cream being put into a shave ice maker, that’s what the texture of the snow feels like. They serve a myriad of flavor variations, with toppings of your choice. Make sure to get sweetened condensed milk on top, it will enhance your snow experience!

5. It’s Boba Time

But really though, it is boba time! Boba Time is this hip boba shop is a perfect stop for a hot summer day or late night cravings. Every time you go, you’re sure to run into a handful of Biola students. Their Pistachio Frappe is unique and truly one of a kind. Their sweet, nutty, creamy frap is accompanied with little pieces of crunchy pistachio. It’s delicious in both flavor and texture! I would also recommend their Coffee Milk Tea, Thai Milk Tea, and Taro Milk Tea with boba! Each milk tea is irresistible, milky, icy, and full of chewy, sweet tapioca balls. These drinks are fun to sip, but make sure to bring a friend, it’s always better with company!

6. Cream & Sugar Cafe

This adorable little cafe is one of the cutest, most Instagram worthy places to get a drink from. The minimalistic, hipster set-up is not only beautiful, but also provides a great space for community. The sofas, chairs, tables, and benches are extremely inviting, Cream & Sugar is a great place to bring a friend or date!

The Acai Bowls are huge! Packed with nutrients, fresh flavors, and amazing textures, this Acai Bowl is better than most! Also, you may add peanut butter upon request! I would also recommend their Blood Orange Lemonade and Lavender Lemonade, they are served in huge glasses and are sweet, tart, tangy, herby, and extremely refreshing!

7. M&M Donuts

M&Mdoesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t let their looks fool you, their specialty doughnuts are out of this world! They open at 9:30pm and there’s always a long line, but wait it out, you will be far from disappointed. Make sure to order twice as many of their specialty Blueberry doughnuts than you expect, they are addicting! They taste like blueberry muffins, cakey, sweet, chewy little blueberries, have a crispy outside and are glazed with a thick (Krispy Kreme-like) icing. They make and serve these doughnuts fresh, so they’re hot. They also have an wonderfully fragrant scent, I dream about often. (I’m not joking, I woke up last week smelling these doughnuts, but alas, they were no where to be found. It was a really sad thing. I wish I could eat these every day) Also, if you order a dozen or more, they give them to you in a pizza box, and that's just too swell.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
