As a Pocatellan, I often hear numerous complaints about how there is nothing to do in Pocatello. Pocatello is a unique town that is centrally located and has numerous cities like Idaho Falls, Salt Lake City and Boise less than four hours away. In addition to cities, Pocatello has a plethora of opportunity surrounding the area when it comes to recreation. Check out some quick, easy and beautiful day trips to help change your artists of South East Idaho!
1. Thousand Springs State Park
Located in Hagerman, Idaho. It's a short two-hour drive from Pocatello. Rent some paddle-boards or kayaks from Idaho State's Outdoor Adventure Center and paddle around Ritter Island, a beautiful green lush area with small waterfalls. Watch out for snakes, though!
2. City of the Rocks
A beautiful area known as the "silent city." This area attracts a large population of rock climbers. The city provides great routes for beginner climbers! Also has great hiking and camping.
