With Mother’s Day just around the corner – and with the panic of last minute (or lack of) planning starting to set in – it’s time to get going and decide how to treat your mama this Mother’s Day! We know that there are never enough words or hugs to express our gratitude and appreciation, so it's hard to find something special that communicates to her just how lucky we are to call her "Mom."

I was fortunate enough to sit down with Nashville’s finest to give y’all (see what I did there?) some great ideas for Mother’s Day planning! Check out what your favorite singers and songwriters are doing for their moms this Sunday. Take notes!

“I think material gifts are often the least valued long term. If you really want to spoil your mom on Mother's Day, get her some flowers, take her out for the day and have a meaningful conversation. Let her know that you appreciate the life lessons and everything that she's done for you. I promise she will never forget that.”

Carly Pearce

"I'm an only child and my mom and I are super close and very alike. She's done so much for me over the years helping me to pursue my crazy dreams, so she deserves a full day of spoiling. I'm sure it would involve shopping, mani/pedis, and dinner with a good bottle of wine and a lot of love!"

Haley & Michaels

“We are both really close to our Mom's and we will take any excuse we can to spoil them. We are lucky because they have become very close friends so for Mother's Day we try to set up a little date for the two of them that they wouldn't normally do for themselves. This year we're forcing them to get pedicures and drink champagne well before 5PM.”

Jerrod Niemann

"My Mom spoiled my siblings and myself our whole lives by showing us how living, laughing and loving should be. So whether it's surprising her in person in Texas, flowers at work, a card in the mail or a phone call, we love to do our best to spoil her back. I love you. Mom!!”

Jon Wolfe

“I’m originally from Tulsa Oklahoma and I live in Austin Texas, but I’m fortunate enough to have my mom close by here in Austin. We both love to cook out and eat steaks, but we don’t get to do that as much as we used to. So this year, I’m going to show up to my mom’s place with a Mother’s Day card, some flowers, and New York Strip steaks and treat my mom to an old school cook out! Simple, but it’s what we enjoy and it’s all about spending time together.”

Muscadine Bloodline

"Typically, our tradition has been to let our moms choose where we go eat as a family. But this year, we've had to be more creative as we'll be on the road this Mother's day weekend. Our plan is to send our mother a heartfelt video from the road. We wouldn't get to chase this dream if it weren't for them!"

Sarah Darling

"I always buy my mom something sweet! We are both coffee and treats people. Every year I ship something from a cool bakery. Laduree is always a winner! Maybe a bouquet of peonies too!"

So whether you're planning on buying her some flowers, spoiling her with a special something, writing a thoughtful card, or just showing up with her favorite treat in hand ready for some quality time, make sure you make the effort this Mother's Day.

Because she's worth it, and because a little love goes a long way.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
