It's the most wonderful time of the year, and nothing else completes the holiday season like a good Christmas movie. There's nothing like being able to curl up on the couch beneath a warm blanket while watching a holiday favorite. With Christmas being my absolute favorite holiday, I've compiled together a list of a few of my all-time favorite Christmas movies. These are movies that I've grown up watching, and still watch every year around the holidays. I hope a few of these can bring a reminiscent smile to your face and inspire you to binge watch.
Merry Christmas!
1) "A Christmas Story"
"You'll shoot your eye out!" This needed to be placed at number one because really, what else tops this? Nothing feels more Christmas-y than reliving Ralphie's bunny costume and the leg lamp.
2) "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
With Charlie Brown feeling unusually depressed around the holidays, he decides to direct the Christmas play, and in the process, discovers the true meaning of Christmas. Aww. This will always be a classic. I particularly like the ending, when the gang is all singing around Charlie's tree.
3) Dr. Seuss' "How The Grinch Stole Christmas"
"You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch."I'm not talking about the recent remake with Jim Carrey, I'm talking about the 1966 cartoon; because, let's be real, that one will always be better. I just want to join the Whos in Whoville as they gather around the Christmas tree and sing their Whoville song.
4) "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer"
The 1964 movie with Burl Ives as narrator is just one of those movies that you have to watch every Christmas. A Rudolph, an elf who wants to be a dentist, a semi-rude (and skinny?) Santa Claus, Yukon Cornelius, and an abominable snowman...what better characters could you ask for?
5) "It's a Wonderful Life"
"Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings!" Excuse me while I wipe a tear away. If you haven't watched this movie, please do so.
6) "Frosty the Snowman"
Just like with Rudolph, "Frosty the Snowman" is another holiday classic that you just can't pass up. Also that song will be stuck in your head for the remainder of the holidays just if you hear it once.
7) "Four Christmases"
This is a lesser-known Christmas movie, but one that will make you laugh and wonder if your family is just as dysfunctional as the families in this movie. Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn play married couple Brad and Kate, who both have divorced parents. After their vacation plans are ruined, they are forced to visit all four families for Christmas and, well, you can guess how this turns out.
