Limmy’s Show! is a sketch comedy show created by Brian Limond. The show first aired in 2009 and only three seasons of Limmy’s Show! can be found on Netflix.
The show can be very confusing if you aren’t ready to think openly, I am not sure that I could easily explain the premise of the show. The humor is something that you have to see in order to understand. But I believe you will enjoy the show if you are a fan of vines, memes or just internet culture in general.
In the first season, Limmy tells his viewers that his show is funny and everyone will agree, you just can’t think about the content too much. You can find another summary of this show in the article in which I list cheeky tv shows on Netflix. Each of these characters are played by the creator of the show, Limmy.
I decided to return to talk about the characters because these characters are some of the most original that I have ever seen.
Falconhoof
Falconhoof is the host of the tv show “Adventure Call” and guides callers through imaginative adventures. The caller has to make decisions in order to survive the role play so that they can win cash prizes.
With money on the line, the caller always seems to stray from the adventure which leads to a hilarious conversation between the timid Falconhoof and the usually upset caller.
Derek "Dee Dee" Durie
Dee Dee is a man who can almost always be found in his apartment, over analyzing everything. It is amazing to watch what he will waste his time on in each sketch. He begins every sketch with “Fockin…” and proceeds to explain a paranoid illusion or something that just doesn’t seem to add up.
Most of his thoughts are just exaggerated versions of notions that every person has had before.
Raymond Day
Raymond is a medium on his television show ‘Paraside’ and starts every episode with, “Let’s see where the spirit takes us.” People attend the show in order to connect with deceased relatives and friends. The audience expects to hear loving words from their lost ones but instead, Raymond always manages to give awful readings.
In one episode, Raymond connects with the mother of a young woman who had come to the show with her fiancé. The mother tells Raymond to inform her daughter just how much of an arsehole her fiancé is. The couple’s relationship is ruined on public television but there are no shocked faces in the crowd and everyone continues to applaud.
Limmy
Limmy pops up throughout the show to pose hypothetical questions or to just do something completely out of the norm. He keeps the episodes funny and exciting.
For one interruption, he suggests that his audience draws random arrows all over the ground so that non-watchers will confusingly follow meaning-less arrows. He may also ask you to imagine a certain nonsensical scenario.
Mr. Mulvaney
Mr. Mulvaney is a successful 60-year-old man who owns his own company. Yet for some reason, he commits petty crimes, ones so petty that they might instead be described as basic nuisances. Then he sits at his desk and prepares his story for when the cops come to question him but the cops never come.
So, he does something silly like stealing a candy bar, then he sits at work and thinks of how to get away with the crime as if anyone is actively looking for him. It sounds like a strange premise for a character but the sketches get crazier which makes them even funnier.
Jacqueline McCafferty
Jacqueline has lost three years of her life on heroin, and another five years on a methadone program meant to get her off of heroin. Jacqueline mentions this in nearly every encounter and is determined to overcome any obstacles that have arisen from misjudgments of her past.
Yet, no one really cares or knows about Jacqueline’s past. Most of her problems are minor and some are even just made up. She is always on the defense even though no one is ever really attacking her.
Wee Gary
Wee Gary is a child who recalls his various playground schemes. He tricks other kids into giving him money or goods in exchange for information or items, such as shoes. These skits are in the form of a voiced over comics and are very witty. Wee Gary is most definitely ahead of his time and makes use of it by conning his peers.
Overall, Limmy's Show! deserves your views. It's super funny and if you enjoy improv comedy, sketch comedy, or shows like Comedy Bang Bang!, you should give this show a try.
