7 Brooke Davis Quotes For Any Situation Life Gives You

"One Tree Hill" may have ended three years, 10 months and 24 days ago, but that does not mean its fanbase has dwindled in the least. Re-watching seasons on the DVDs or on Netflix, it's easy to relive life in good ole Tree Hill, N.C., with its wonderful characters and addicting storylines. All the characters bring something that the next one doesn't, but Brooke Davis is the one I admired the most in this wonderful show. Her character development alone was enough to stick around for for all nine seasons. So without further ado, here are the seven of the best Brooke Davis quotes for any situation in life that you may ever need.

1. "Sometimes people put up walls, not to keep people away, but to see who cares enough to tear those walls down."

Payton Sawyer wasn't the only one who would put up walls after getting hurt; Brooke did, too. After her store was robbed and she was beaten, she didn't tell anybody the truth until Sam (her teen foster daughter) came along and showed her that it's OK to have walls up around people to protect yourself. You just have to know when to put those walls back down and let people in again.

2. "We all need a little hope sometimes. That feeling that everything is going to be OK and that there's going to be someone out there to help make sure of that."

Everybody has hard times now and then. For some, it can last a day; for others, it can last a whole lot longer. Brooke tended to depend on a guy to make her feel better sometimes (we're talking to you, Lucas Scott) but she always could go to P. Sawyer or Tutor Girl and all would be right again. We all just need that hope that everything will turn out OK in the end.

3. "You don't have to compromise. Not if you don't want to."

Brooke was always fiercely independent, and she never settled for anything less than she deserved. Her grace and strength are an inspiration to young women everywhere. Brooke Davis showed you that who you were in the past should not define you in the future and that you forge your own path to make your dreams come true...without compromising anything.

4. "But it never seemed like you missed me. And I guess because of it, I stopped missing you."

I have a strong inclination to believe Brooke Davis would be a fan of Taylor Swift solely because of the wisdom that comes out of them. (But that's just one person's opinion.) Missing someone is hard. You miss someone that you may have just broken up with or you miss your friend(s) when you feel alone or you miss your mom and her PB&J sandwiches. Whoever it is, it's hard to miss someone. And if you're missing someone you know you have to let go of, that's even harder to do. If Brooke Davis can move on, so can you.

5. "I'm watching all of my friends move on with their lives. And it's like I am stuck here, standing still."

Everyone, at one point in their life, has felt like they were moving in slow motion while everyone else around them was in fast forward. It is one of the worst feelings ever—to feel like you're the only one in your friend group to not know what they are doing with their life. But let me tell you something—you are not the only one who does not have it all together. There are thousands upon thousands of people out there who do not know what they want to do with their lives. It's OK to feel lost sometimes. Just focus on the work and don't get sidetracked by what everyone else is doing. You'll soon find that you're on the right track, too.

6. "I used to be a bitch for the sake of being a bitch, but now I'm a bitch for the sake of my friends and family."

No one threw shade better than Brooke Davis when you got on her bad side. While she could have a hard time defending herself sometimes, she never failed to stand up for her friends. She always stood up for Payton (when they weren't fighting, that is) and always took care of everyone around her. She was dependable and loyal—the kind of person everyone should inspire to be.

7. "I wanted you to fight for me! I wanted you to say there is no one else that you could ever be with and that you'd rather be alone than without me."

Even though I shipped Payton and Lucas together throughout the series, I never could get over this scene between Brooke and Lucas. If you've ever experienced yourself in a situation where no one's fighting for you, then you know how crappy it feels. Especially if you're the one who is always fighting to keep those people in your life but they are doing nothing to keep you in theirs.

Brooke Davis may be a fictional character in a show that has ended quite a while ago, but that does not mean we can't pull inspiration from her on a daily basis. Her strength, dignity and grace that developed throughout the show's nine seasons is one of the many great qualities of "One Tree Hill."

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
