When you live on a student’s budget, you get creative. Here are seven funky foods made with just a toaster and refrigeration.
1. Blueberry Nutella buns
Right out the gate, it’s the classic combo of throwing Nutella on a thing and calling it served! This time, I had blueberries from one friend and buns from another. Together, they made one great snack. Served best with waffles.
2. Syrup-toasted bun
Of course, throwing buns in a toaster might as well be pancakes, because they taste great with syrup too. Just don’t go overboard; I can’t imagine these are very nutritious.
3. Golden Puffs with apple juice
Have cereal but no milk? Not a problem, John Green of vlogbrothers has us covered with a great video on the topic! Turns out Golden Puffs taste fine with water, though I recommend juice. Chilled juices taste best. Just refrigerate first, and you’re all set!
4. Syrup-toasted tortilla
No buns? No problem! When you still have syrup from dish number two, you’re in luck. For if it fits in a toaster, you can cook it! Pop in a tortilla, throw some syrup on it and you’re good. Add cheese for a bit of dairy.
5. Carrot pizza
When you know friends and know where to find parties, they might give leftovers. Such was the case here, where one marries pizza with carrots in harmony.
6. Mandarin orange custard pie
Speaking of office parties, custard pie with no fruits left is no problem! Treat yourself by tossing on some pantry canned fruit. Go you, you’re cool!
7. BanaNutella garden salad
Best to finish where we started, with a Nutella-tastic treat. With your boring salad and no dressing to make it right, just break out the fruits and hazelnut spread. Still tastes great.
