7 Bible Verses For The Christian Who Struggles With Trust

Trust is a tricky topic. We give it. We receive it. We lose it. We gain it back. Trust seems to be a never-ending fight. I struggle with it daily. Who are we supposed to trust after all? We hope for the best and hand out our trust not knowing what could happen, and sometimes people break it. Sometimes, our worst fears come true. There is only one solution.

Trust God, and everything else will fall into place.

As followers of Christ, who are we to try and hold the people in our lives to a level of perfection? No earthly being is perfect, and we all know that. Yet, when it comes to trust we expect people to never mess up. They are never allowed to make mistakes because then they are deemed to always be untrustworthy. How does that mentality represent the love of God?

Forgiveness is the key to succeeding. As God has forgiven our sins, we should follow his example. Honestly, it's just difficult, and it usually takes time (especially for me). But then again, who said it would be easy? I've found that in order to trust people, I need to rely on my trust in the Lord to guide me towards the people that I need in my life. Trusting in God is the only way that any other relationship can remain uplifting and satisfying.

So, here are 7 bible verses that God gives us to teach us about trust. If you're a naturally skeptical person like myself, these verses should really hit home.

1. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 KJV

2. The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. Proverbs 29:25 KJV

3. The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate. Psalms 34:22 KJV

4. But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: 2 Corinthians 1:9 KJV

5. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalms 118:8 KJV

6. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. Psalms 56:11 KJV

7. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. Proverbs 28:26 KJV

We often leave our decisions up to ourselves, and we stress unrealistically because of it. Why? That is a great question. I'm not sure if it is pride or foolishness. Ultimately, I know what makes my heart full, and I know who will not fail me. The relief that comes with trusting in the Lord to help you with your life is the epitome of comfort. He does not disappoint, and he will take you where you need to go.

Trusting in other people is a battle. Some days you win, and other days you will fail. Yet, trusting in the Lord will always prevail. He will give you the ability to trust the right people and forgive them when they fall short of your expectations. I don't easily find comfort in relinquishing my trust in others, but by trusting in God to provide for me, I will become better. He can make us all better. There is no hope and happiness that outweighs that which is received from the Lord.

I can promise you that.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
