5 Alternatives to Talking About Politics

There are plenty of other things to do or talk about instead of talking about politics with your family and friends this holiday season. Here are just a few:

1. Discuss school or work. There is pretty much always something to talk about in the academic or professional sphere.

2. Play a game. Find a board game or a card game that everyone enjoys playing and play it for a while. It will get everyone to have fun and keep their minds off politics for a bit.

3. Eat more food. It’s the holidays, there is an abundance of food everywhere. You can’t talk about politics when your face is stuffed with ham, corn and stuffing.

4. Watch a movie or a program on TV. Maybe there's a big game on that you can turn on to distract people and have them focus on something else, that always seems to work! Especially a football game, works like a charm. No political talk during football, it’s a rule.

5. Talk about literally anything else. Literally. No one wants to talk about election results while they’re enjoying their mashed potatoes, I promise. And if someone does happen to bring it up, declare that you're ready for seconds and change the subject.

We Heart It

Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
