I joke around with my friends many times about how I can do many things but the only things I really haven't figured out is mind reading and my sixth sense.
But in reality, do those things really matter?
My piano teacher once said "We are all geniuses in hindsight" and it is honestly such a truth. We all look for the right answers as to not make a mistake along the road but what we do not realize in those moments is that mistake are what make us human. Without those imperfections, we would not have a story to tell, or at least an interesting one at that.
I went through a good chunk of my life wondering what the "right" next step in my path was and many times it seemed clear as to which foot was to go where but other obstacles were entirely opposite circumstances. In those cases, I felt like I was a genius when I figured out the "right path" to take.
But was I really a genius? We look months late and we realize that there were so many other things that we could've done that would've led us in an entirely different direction. But we don't have a sixth sense to tell us what the future will hold with our choices. I don't see that as an entirely horrible thing. yes, mistakes occur and yes it is partially because of the choices we make that will take us in the direction we go but if we knew where we were going all the time, what would be the purpose of taking the journey?
We can't read people's minds because confrontation and conversation are important for people to maintain. We can't see the future because it is more important to make mistakes and learn from them. Our choices and our path and the decisions we make are a solid representation of who we are. There are no two people that have identical stories to tell. Whether we made all the mistakes in the world or lived the way we consider to be "normal," all of it is the culmination of what we all call our story.
So, I absolutely joke about how much I wish I could minds and have a sixth sense. But I can't say I would truly want either of those things. And why? Life is more entertaining not knowing where your final destination will be. Having a spontaneous, eventful and unforgettable journey is where life truly takes its place.
