1. I love you, but now is not the time to love you.

Okay so when is the time? If you tell someone you love them, you don’t just let them go. Or at least I never thought that was the way it worked. Maybe I’m just crazy. I never knew there was a set time to love someone.

2. You are perfect for me. You’re always the guy/girl I have seen myself with.

Starting off a break-up with saying this line could not get anymore confusing. If you honestly believe that I’m perfect for you, why are you dumping me? How about you tell me what is really going on without trying to save me from heartbreak. This line does make the pain any easier and makes the person getting broken up with feel like they are crazy. Everything was fine and you’re telling me that I was everything you imagined, but instead you want to be with someone who isn’t good for you? This could be why I’m so lost when it comes to relationships but this doesn’t seem right.

3. I decided that I like your sister/brother more than you.

Woah, dagger to the heart. You can’t just break up with me and expect that I am going to be fully content with you going after my sister/brother. That is my family. Were you ever only coming over here to see her/him? When did you decide this? I mean I guess at least you didn’t say you were hot after my mom/dad.

4. There is nothing wrong with our relationship, but I think we need time apart.

Nothing wrong? That’s wrong to begin with. If everything was peaches and cream, we wouldn’t need time apart and everything would stay exactly how it is. I guess if that’s the way you need to cop out of not enjoying spending time with me, go for it. Just don’t be sorry you walked away from something that had nothing wrong.

5. You deserve better.

I’m not really sure that’s your call. How do you know what “standards” I deserve? If I care about you and have been willing to date you; you’re all that I want; nothing better. If someone is using this as a break up line, you better figure yourself out first. Blaming it on the fact you feel lesser of a person than the person you are with is insane. If they deserved better, they would go get better. Stop saying stupid things because you actually don’t know what to say.

6. My feelings for you are too intense that they scare me.

Run, baby, run. If you are just going to run away from someone every time you get close, you’ll have no one left. Obviously that is not the problem, because I hope you’re not going to date someone you have no intense feelings for. Maybe those intense feelings were nonexistent in the first place.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
