6 Ways To Work Out Without Even Knowing It

For all my girls out there who are passionate about balancing their health, fitness, and fun. I know when the weekend rolls around the only worry is our lack out motivation to hit the gym and failure to resist the bar food. But that doesn't mean you still can't enjoy the weekend. Below are some useful reminders of 6 ways that you actually do burn calories on the weekend.

1. Shopping

Ok ladies. We all know shopping is our favorite type of cardio. I like to think of it as hitting two birds with one stone and I know everyone is guilty of busting out their power walk here and there. There is window shopping and then there is being on a mission. Regardless, shopping is the best cardio because no matter what you have to walk to get to where you need to go.

2. Dancing with friends

Getting ready for a night on the town or in the middle of the dance floor...never be afraid to bust a move. Dancing the night away is one of the best calorie burners because you're moving your whole body!

3. Laughing

Ever hear the story that those who laugh a lot live the longest? Well, another story is that laughing can give you great abs! Coming from a girl who doesn't know how to NOT laugh, I have yet to see this being true. However, I know I feel pain in my stomach after laughing so hard I can barely contain myself. So laugh away!

4. Refusing a coat on a night out

Why is it that girls wear tank tops and tube tops no matter the temperature? Oh, I know! Because if the top is cute then it is appropriate for a night out. Sometimes we don't feel like wearing a coat just to take it off in the bar and hold it all night. So what do we do? We don't wear the coat and sprint from the car to the entrance door and that my friends is a calorie burner.

5. Heels

Beauty is pain! But pain from high heels results in nice calf muscles!

6. Sunday

A hangover so bad you can't eat breakfast until dinner. Need I say more?

So never sacrifice your happiness for the fear of messing up your weekly routine because remember, balancing work and pleasure is the key to a happy and healthy life. Work hard, play hard!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
