1. Ask yourself if you would buy it if it wasn't on sale.
If not, you probably don't want the item that much, you just like the sale.
2. Walk out of the store without it and see how you feel.
If you regret not buying it, go back and get it, and if you don't then don't.
3. Know what you're looking for.
Make a list of things you need such as a present for mom, groceries, etc. You will be less likely to buy all the extras when you see how much else you still have to spend money on.
4. Try everything out.
You won't buy clothes that don't fit right or an album that you don't really like the songs on.
5. Keep in mind what you already have.
Of course you like those jeans, that's why you already have five of them! Please do not spend money on something you already have. Add variety to your wardrobe and home, not 10 of the same things. Plus, by the time yours breaks or wears out, you'll probably have a new sense of style.
6. If all else fails, bring only cash.
You know yourself - if you know you can't resist splurging, leave your credit card at home and just bring cash so that you literally cannot blow your budget.
