6 Ways Not To Feel Lazy AF

A way to feel kinda productive during break.

It's break. And you are absolutely, positively loving it. But the problem is, after the first week, it honestly feels like there is nothing else to do and you are essentially rotting away on the couch in a potato-like state, while on the seventh season of a show you started yesterday. So I thought it'd be nice to have a few ways to not feel lazy af over break. Here goes:

1. Try to keep small, weekly goals that are easy to reach.

They don't have to be major goals, but make sure to write them out. You can use an app if you are more tech savvy than me (which is actually very likely). Make sure that they're definitely reachable. A couple include clearing out your email, retouching your resume, reaching out to different internships, completing a few applications. It can also be something as simple as making sure to take your dog out for a walk.

2. Try not to sleep over 12 hours for a prolonged period of time if you can help it.

Aside from the unhealthy side effects of doing so, sleeping more than 12 hours really just makes you feel like the laziest person ever (or at least it does for me). Honestly, I should be saying no more than nine hours, but let's be real, it's break.

3. Hit the gym. Or the dance floor. Or the court. Just something.

Getting active and achieving any fitness goals is the easiest way to feel productive (and it makes you healthier too). But make sure to find something that you like to do. Not only will this help you enjoy what you're doing, but it will also increase the likelihood of you actually doing said activity.

4. Hit those books (the fun ones)

When was the last time that you read for fun? Well it's definitely about time to get started on a new book or finish up an old one. I have yet to find a feeling that is more satisfying than reading a good book.

5. Volunteer.

Studies show that helping others also reduce your own stress levels. It's also the holiday season, so what better way to give back than to volunteer at your local soup kitchen, hospital, etc. It's a great way to decompress from the term and finals and also helps another in need.

6. Reconnect with someone you haven't talked to in a while.

I feel like we all have someone(s) that we have lost touch with, but would love to reach out to again. Why not use this time to do that? It's as easy as sending a text or maybe you could change things up by sending an actual letter. Regardless of how you reach out, you'll definitely feel great after doing so.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
