Even though it's summer time, it's never too early to start developing some good habits for school. This can also be good for those of you who have a hectic work schedule to keep track of. Coming from someone who is borderline type-A personality, I've discovered a few tricks with having an agenda that help keep me organized and at ease.
1. Find a good agenda.
These Lily Pulitzer agendas are not only cute, with a fun and preppy print, but they make for a great everyday planner. These agendas come in a variety of sizes that make it easy for either an everyday planner to pop in your purse, or the jumbo size for all those college assignments to throw in your backpack.
2. Set aside a day each week to plan.
If you pick one day out of the week to sit down for 10 minutes maximum to plan out your week, you may save yourself a lot of stress. I find it best to sit down on a Sunday and go through my agenda, and write down for the week what I need to do, along with any other events or appointments that I might have. This also works great for those of you who have a job. You can write in when you're working so you can see when you're free.
3. Create boxes to check off.
Putting a box next to each item that needs to get checked off makes staying organized a whole lot easier. When you go to look at everything you need to do for that day, you will know right away the things you've already completed and what other items are still on your list to do.
4. Keep your agenda handy.
What good is your agenda if it;s never around you to keep you on track? Make an effort to keep it nearby. This can be as easy as finding one that's small enough to keep in your purse, or making sure that you take it with you in your backpack to each class and study session.
5. Use different colored pens.
Gather up a handful of different colored pens and designate each one to a certain category. Appointments can be written in blue pen, homework in red pen and work in pink pen. Those are just a few examples of how to utilize the different colors. This not only adds some color to your agenda, but it makes it easier to read over your items at a quick glance.
6. Plan when things are due and when to do them.
This can relate more to homework, but it can also be applied to other things as well. Not only should you write in when things are due and need to be turned in, but to stay on top of homework and projects. It would be helpful to write in when you plan on working on them.
