1. Music

The key is to listen to music that bashes your ex…not the kind that makes you cry about them and makes you apologize to them for something they did.

2. Travel

Go somewhere new, someplace you’ve always wanted to go before but for some reason, you held yourself back from it.

3. Netflix

If you don’t sit on your couch with triple chocolate gelato and watch a chick flick….or 20, did you even go through a breakup?

Basically, any movie that makes you realize that the world isn’t completely ending is perfect for this

4. Go on Random Dates

Hang out with people that you normally wouldn’t, try to surprise yourself with the types of people you could date that are totally different than the one that is now in the past. Plus new memories always make the old ones fade just a tad.

5. Be with Friends

Especially the ones that told you he was no good from the start. You will get a few ‘I told you sos’ but in the end, all that your friends really want is to be happy.

6. Focus on YOU

Instead of laying in bed feeling sad for yourself for the 4th week in a row do something that will make you happy in the end go but that dress you have wanted to buy forever, put forth the effort to help make a dream come true… in the wise words of Tom Haverford and Donna Meagle from Parks and Recreation “TREAT YO SELF”

And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
