Sometimes thinking of something to write about can be tough. A thought or idea might be there, but developing that can be very difficult. Here are some brainstorming/creative thinking activities that will help you get rid of writer's block!

1. Make a list.

I really enjoy lists. To-Do lists, grocery lists, packing lists, etc. Make a list of your hobbies, favorite foods, or even music! Then, see if there is one that really sticks out to you.

2. Watch the news.

It is important to know about what is going on in the world around you. It is also important to know what your opinions are on these current events.

3. Read articles.

This one goes along with number 2. Read articles about different events going on. Read some that come from opposing views that way you can learn of other perspectives and counterarguments.

4. Free writing.

Just write whatever comes to your mind and typically, you will find a possible topic to write about. It is always good to get your thoughts on paper.

5. Read past writings.

Sometimes you can find inspiration from things you have written before. Most of the time you will notice something that you didn't really notice before.

6. Step back and don't think too much!

Try not to overthink anything that you are writing about. Thinking too much can cause you to not completely focus on what you are writing about. It can be a good thing to take a step back and do something else for a while before writing your piece.
