6 Ways to Stop Feeling Stuck

We are always wanting more than we have in our lives. It doesn't matter what it is, where we are or what our goals are, we're always striving for better and that's great. What isn't great is thinking that we're stuck anywhere that we currently are. If you're feeling stuck, you always have options.

1. If you feel stuck in a relationship, it's not the right relationship.

You should never have any feelings of being stuck with another person. You are not chained to the floor and unable to escape. If you feel like a prisoner mentally, run for the hills. You don't need to be with anyone and never let anyone make you feel that way. Stop weighing your options, feeling like you'll be nothing without them and leave that sociopath behind you and never look back. I don't care if you own a home together, have kids, just bought a dog or are traveling the countryside together. If you don't feel right, it's not right. You should be with someone who makes you feel like the luckiest person alive.

2. If you hate your job, quit.

This is huge. I don't know about you, but I'm 24-years-old and that's way too young to hate what I'm doing for a living. I'm educated, strong and capable of learning anything and growing professionally. Don't ever feel like you're stuck in a job you hate, at any age. It may take a little while, but start applying and chasing your goals and dreams, whatever they are. Never stop trying to find something that makes you happy both mentally, physically and professionally. You're not going to be in the same job for the rest of your life at this age. So do yourself a favor, search your soul and indeed.com.

3. If you feel stuck in a friendship, leave them behind.

One thing I've learned the hard way is you don't owe anyone an explanation if they don't fit your life anymore. You don't have to be friends with someone just because you've been close for the last 10 years. You don't have to be in a one-sided friendship EVER. As people we are always growing and outgrowing things. Like that sweater from the 7th grade you still have, full of memories and nostalgia, let it go. What do we do when we're trying on a shirt that's suffocating? Rip it off and throw it on the floor. Do that with your suffocating friendship. You'll feel 2 pounds lighter.

4. If you feel like you're wasting time, don't.

I think something we all don't understand is how short life is. Just think back for a second; can you believe it's been 10 years since you were a freshman in high school? Or 3 years since you graduated college already? Time flies and if you're not having a good time, pushing yourself, stepping out of your comfort zone, learning and building, then what are you doing? If you feel stuck and stagnant, push through it and move forward. Life's too short to stay in one place forever.

5. Take risks when they're needed.

Need more money? Take a fun second job. Want to finally get out of your unhealthy rut? Join a class at the gym. Feel like your relationship is going nowhere? Communicate and make sure they hear your needs. Is your significant other not right for you anymore? Get out of your relationship and focus on yourself. Want to pursue a dream that has nothing to do with what you went to college for? Jump into it head first and don't be afraid of failing. Be strong, brave and willing to find your happiness, wherever it may be. Take a risk. As my best friend says, "fate loves the fearless."

6. Ask for help.

When a turtle is stuck on its back, it needs some help. Don't be afraid to ask for it.

Whatever part of your life that's making you feel stuck can be changed, altered or left behind. You are not a tree; get up and move on. Never stop pushing for your happiness. Just keep swimming, you'll get out of this constricted place you're in.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
