6 Ways High School Is Like The Zombie Apocalypse

It's more alike than you think.

Let's be real, here, people. High school sucks.

To those who say that high school is the best years of your life are liars, in my opinion. I will admit, my high school experience was not terrible, or horrendous, or devastating. It was just okay. However, compared to college...college is way better. But that's not my point here.

My point is: high school has quite a few resemblances to a zombie apocalypse. Alright, after you've quit laughing (or crying because it's true), check out my list of reasons why.

1. Your Squad

Your high school squad is a lot like your zombie apocalypse squad. You stick together because you need to if you want to survive. Also because you're together almost every day. After the zombie apocalypse (or high school) is over, your squad will likely separate. There will be some friends where you're like, "Hey, we make a great team, this was awesome!" and you'll keep in touch. Then there are other friends where you're like, "Hey, thanks for sticking by me and saving my life a few times. I'm glad we were able to survive this apocalypse together. Good luck with your future endeavors." And then you give a friendly salute and go your separate ways.

2. Keeping Watch

In the zombie apocalypse, you'll likely need someone to alternate shifts between keeping watch at night so you're not attacked. Same thing in high school, except you have someone keeping watch for your teacher to come back while you do some stupid shit you're not supposed to be doing.

3. Scavenging For Food

In an apocalypse, food is likely scarce. You'll be scavenging continuously, eating food whenever you can. As for high school...I don't know if you've noticed, but high schoolers are obsessed with food. Especially free food. When you get free food during school, it's like the angels from heaven above have blessed you.

4. Physical Education

In high school, you're forced to take at least a few PE classes. In the zombie apocalypse, you have no choice. You're either fast, or you're dead. Good luck.

5. Adults

In high school, you likely have one teacher that you're tight with. You guys are chill, make jokes in class, and you probably call them by their first name. In the zombie apocalypse, you should also have at least one adult with you that you're cool with. They're the wise one that actually knows what they're doing, and can teach you how to fight and hunt and scavenge and stuff. They're also there to make sure you don't die, because you're pretty much civilization's last hope. Just like high school!

6. Stocking Up For A Fight

If there's a big fight that's coming up, or a large horde on the horizon, you're going to need to be prepared. So you gather as many weapons as possible, and train as much as you can before it happens. Same thing with a test; you study a lot so you can hopefully escape unscathed (or at least with minimal wounds).

Making more sense now? Yeah, I thought so. If you're in college, celebrate with me while we enjoy the freedom of not being in high school. If you're in high school, I'm sorry, you'll be gone soon. Enjoy(?) it while you can.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
