6 Ways To Break The Classic "Routine Rut"

Feeling like this today?

It's BREAK TIME.

The fast pace of today's society and feeling the need to consistently be doing something can take a toll on yourself. Physically, emotionally and mental draining. You are stuck into your everyday routine and have come to a rut with everything. Your everyday actions begin to blur one after another. It's time to take a break for YOU.

Here are a few things that you can do for yourself to break the rut!

1. Take 10 minutes out of your day for some peace and quiet.

We are surrounded by noise all day long and it is kind of exhausting. Schedule a time in your day for some quiet time. Honestly, it may seem silly but you'll appreciate it once you make it a routine. Put the phone on silent and embrace being unplugged.

2. Treat yourself to your favorite thing.

Whether it be a food, drink, activity or little online shopping, you need to treat yourself! After all the hard work put into your days, it's about that time to invest into you even if it's a guilty pleasure.

3. Get active.

If in your daily routines a workout is missing, this is something you need to do! It can either be a walk, run, class workout or finally going to your gym. Working out relieves all the stresses of the day and you'll forget about everything on your mind. It clears the soul and mind. PLUS your mood will so much better after! You're making your body healthy AND improving your mood. How much better of a combo can you get?

4. Invest in candles. Yes, I said candles.

The aroma can easily set your mind at ease and help get your life into order. Also, TIS the season for those warm classic smells of fall and winter! Great deals are happening too, so you have no other choice but to shop for your own sanity, right?

5. Watch an episode of your show. Or maybe two...

If it's been a while since you've caught up on your show, then watch an episode! It'll give you something else to focus on and break up your day for a while. Indulging is never bad.

6. Have a dance and sing breakdown.

It's time to blare out Adele's "Hello" single with no regrets and do the classic "q-tip" dance (comment below if you know what movie reference I'm talking about). Whatever song you love or some dance form you create in that time you need to be goofy!

These are only a few of what can help break the classic rut feeling of the everyday routines of life. We've all been in this, especially if you're in school or job it's time for a little break! Do something out of the ordinary even if it seems different, do it! The more change of the day the better.

If you have anything to share that helps you get out of the classic rut please comment below on what it is!

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
