This time of the year offers much joy and laughter but it is also counteracted with the feelings of stress from school or family, loneliness and depression and an array of other feelings that can make someone feel less than ideal. Sometimes, you just need a little bit more comfort than usual. Here are six verses to refer back to when you are in needing of a little bit of tender love and care.
1. Deuteronomy 31:8 "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
Yes, sometimes it's hard to believe that God is always with you and by your side because there is so much weighing your soul, but He is just waiting for you to turn over your burdens to him. He does not want you to bare all this alone because you are not alone. Remember that.
2. Psalm 23:4 "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Everyone has their breaking point or their "darkest valley." Whether it is school, family or health-related, we must approach it with boldness because God will always be there to catch you when you fall. He works in mysterious ways, so you have to be open and ready to accept his way of comfort. Whether it's from the words from His bible or from one of his disciples.
3. Psalm 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
This state is just temporary. It will not last forever. You will feel whole again. So, just hold on to hope and faith if it's the last thing you can do, because it will be worth it in the end.
4. Lamentations 3:22-23 "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
Every morning is a new blessing and chance you have to better yourself and the people around you. Know this, You are here for a purpose and you are loved. Although you probably cannot see or feel that right now, God will never stop loving his children.
5. John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
Jesus here offers the ultimate peace of your heart and soul. He gives you peace that nothing in this world can give you.
6. Exodus 14:14 "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent."
You cannot do this alone. Take comfort in the fact that God is fighting for you, too.
