Find strength and rest in Him.

Finals week is coming. For some it starts this week. For others, next week. No matter when it starts, we're all stressed about it. We're constantly thinking of all the tests we have, papers to write, group projects to finish, and so much more. It seems like work is constantly being added onto our load and there is too much to do and not enough time. I know it's easy to stress about finals because they're a big deal. However, don't let your grades define you and don't let them discourage you. Work hard, but know that, at the end of the day, your identity should be in Christ. Find time throughout finals week to spend time with Jesus. Give your stress over to Him. He will make your burden light. Here are some verses to reflect on during finals week that will hopefully encourage you.

1. Philippians 4:6

"Do not be anxious about anything, but instead, pray about everything."

Don't spend so much time stressing over everything you have to do that you neglect spending time with God.

2. 1 Peter 5:6-7

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

Give your doubts and fears over to Him. He cares for you and will comfort you. Trust in Him.

3. Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

When you're feeling worn out and exhausted, ask God for rest. He can provide you with a sense of peace and help you remain calm.

4. Isaiah 40:30-31

"Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount on wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not faint."

The Lord will give you ability to keep pushing through. You can't do it on your own, but if you lean into God, He shall renew your strength.

5. Joshua 1:9

"Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

In the story of Joshua, Moses, the leader of Israel, has just died and Joshua has become the new leader. He is about to lead Israel into the land that God promised their ancestors. The Israelites have been wandering in the desert for decades after being freed form Egypt. They are in a time of change, transition, hardships, trials, and new experiences. The only thing they can do is trust in the Lord and the promises He has made them. Like the Israelites, put your trust in God. He has a plan for you and will be with you the whole way through.

6. Colossians 3:23

"Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men. "

Remember that everything you do should glorify the Lord. That includes school. Be joyful in knowing that your work can be used to honor God and glorify His name. Finding joy in this can change your whole perspective on school.

While finals week is often stressful, I encourage you to still find time for the Lord and trust in Him. He will make your paths straight and He alone will give you the peace you need to finish the semester.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
