There are often days when I find myself completely and utterly bored after a long, stressful week. In those times, I find myself wanting to do only one thing: binge watch a TV show. For those of you who are in a similar situation and are out of ideas, allow me to be of some assistance.
Daredevil
Available on Netflix
If you ever want to see a blind man kick some serious butt, here’s the show for you. Daredevil is about the life of a blind man, who fights injustice in hells kitchen as a lawyer by day, and a masked vigilante by night. Netflix does a fantastic job at producing a well-rounded, intense, yet also comedic at times, show for teens and adults. It does get graphic at times (violence, blood, etc.), but all for reasons supporting the storyline.
Jessica Jones
Available on Netflix
Check out Jessica Jones for a bit of female empowerment. Jessica Jones is an ex-hero whose ex-boyfriend has been stalking her. The super-twist? He’s a, shall we say, master manipulator, and she has super strength and a heavy burden that keeps her extremely pessimistic. While this is a fantastic and enthralling show, it’s important to note that it’s probably not the best for younger viewers. It does get a bit graphic and deals with some mature themes.
Young Justice
Available on Netflix
Continuing it with the super hero theme I have seemed to form, this show is great for an audience of any age. It centers around the lives of young heroes, who are trying to learn to understand their roles and abilities, in addition to just trying to figure themselves out like any normal person would. They learn to grow and fight as a team, but they still face several challenges that are extremely relatable for everyone.
Scream Queens
Available on Fox
Both satirical and creepy, this show centers around the lives of sorority sisters whose lives are all now at stake, as the mysterious “Red Devil” is out to get them. At least one character is killed off every episode, so it’s a mystery that the audience is very eager to try and figure out. Let me reiterate that this show is extremely funny. It’s essentially Scary Movie meets American Horror Story.
The Office
Available on Netflix
I will never not advocate for this show. Though I’m almost positive everyone has heard of it, I had to include it, because 1) I love it, and 2) if you are the 1% of college-aged, Netflix subscribed America that has never seen The Office, you need to take a 25 minute break right now and watch an episode. It’s a satirical Mockumentary about a seemingly average business, full of dead pan humor, satire, and hilarious antics. However, unlike mundane comedies, The Office shows you into the lives of characters you come to know and love.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Available on Netflix
If you’re a comedy lover, this show is calling your name. A girl who has spent most of her life trapped in an underground bunker with no access to the outside world is freed and decides to live in New York City. Her childish and trusting nature in a deceitful and pessimistic city, make for several episodes of hilarity.
